rambling [TEXT LOST] a quiet tree-lined Gables street is the result of a lifetime of collecting things that the family loved. When the Sylvestros were house-hunting two years ago, having lived elsewhere in the Gables for 20 years, Ann knew at once that this was the house for them when she saw the huge oaks on the front lawn. The stephanotis she had then been nurturing for months in a pot by now has climbed halfway up the trunk of one tree, and hanging baskets of plants and flowers are draped from the branches of another. It seems entirely fitting that Ann is president of the Coral Gables Garden Club (a position she also held 10 years ago, and because of which she jokingly refers to herself as "recycled"); president of the 1977 Metropolitan Flower Show; and chairman of the Beautification Committee for the City of Coral Gables. The inside of the Sylvestro home, though filled with antiques and fine period pieces, looks comfortable and inviting, because Ann intends for her furniture to be used, not merely displayed. The rooms all have a cheerful, sunny look, partly because of the large picture windows, and partly because of Ann's use of "sunny" colors throughout. Some of the furniture is from the home Ann lived in as a child, some are pieces she and Al picked up over the years at antique shops, and some, she reveals, were flea market "finds" "We like to live with the things we have," she says. "We're not interested in just going out to department stores and buying new things " She adds that Al and 17-year-old Wayne share her love of beautiful things. and Al frequently
