Entertaining notes

The 95-member University Civic Chorale, composed of musically proficient members of the community, will present Spectrum Concert this Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m. at the University of Miami's Gusman Hall. Directed by Dr. Lee Kjelson and Robert Gower, the Chorale will be joined by mezz-soprano Joy Davidson, concert pianist Gustavo Ponzoa and classic guitarist Juan Mercadel in performances of excerpts from Mozart's "Missa Brevia," Honegger's "King David," the "Sacred Service" of Ernest Block, Ralph Vaughn William's "O Clap Your Hands," and other pieces performed by the soloists. Tickets are $3 to adults and $2 to students. Music lovers St. Valentine and lovers of good music will be toasted in the Free Family Concert sponsored by the City of Coral Gables, Sunday, Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. Under the direction of Roy Oliver, the band and soloists Betty Carson Wales and John Tone will perform. Bluegrass Lots of pickin', singin' and country dancin' will be featured at the free monthly Bluegrass and Country Music Festival sponsored by the Southeastern Bluegrass Association on Sunday, Feb. 13, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Coral Gables P.B.A. Park, 7350 Coral Way. Salute to culture P.A.C.E., MPTF and Florida International University will co-sponsor Paquito Y Sus Flyouts in a free concert on Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 12:30 p.m. in University House, FIU campus. Band Concert The UM Symphonic Band, conducted by William B. Russell, will offer a free concert Wednesday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m. at University of Miami's Gusman Hall.
