Woman's Club Senior Board To Honor Graduating 'Juniors'

A tea honoring members of the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club graduating to the senior department this fall, will be held from 3 to 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. G. G. Lee, 650 University Drive. Mrs. Lee, reception chairman for the club, and members of the board are giving the party. Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Malcomb B. McDonald, both of whom have been made honorary life members of the junior club, will greet guests at the door. Mrs. Joseph T. Cox, president of the juniors, will head the receiving line. Mrs. Coleman Jones, hospitality committee chairman and Mrs. William Merriam will have charge of decorations and refreshments. Mrs. C. B. Hamilton, 6900 Portillo Ave., Coral Gables, has leased a home in Coconut Grove for the summer.

Miss La Pointe, Mr. O'Laughlin Are Wedded

Tall standards of white gladioli formed a background near the fireplace in the drawing room for the receiving line. Mrs. LaPointe was in gray crepe and matching hat with orchid corsage. Out-of-town guests at the wedding included the bride's maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Feeley and her aunt, Miss Ann Feeley of River Forest, Ill.; the bridegroom's sisters, Miss Mary O'Laughlin, Miss Irene O'Laughlin also Mrs. John Clark, aunt of the bridegroom all from Scotdale.

By HELEN REYNOLDS, SOCIETY EDITOR With more than 600 reservations for their May First dance tucked under their respective belts, members of the Coral Gables Woman's Club are now turning the remaining days before the dance to work to give their customres their money's worth. A "Fashion Fantasy" with a French setting will be enacted during the evening with about 40 of the young matrons acting as models. Mrs. E. F. Benway, fashion coordinator for Althea's will direct and fashions exclusively from Althea's will be shown. Many small cocktail parties to precede the dance are in the making. Mrs. Curtice Haggard, incoming president of the club and her husband Dr. Haggard will entertain 14 guests at their home and have asked their guests for eight oclock. The W. F. Esslingers who will have 14 guests and the Wilbur Jennings with the same number will gather at the Esslingers, 523 Avenue Madeira preceding the dance. The Donald Marions have also asked their ten guests to their home, 635 Avenue Palermo for cocktails. * * * Mrs. Clifford L. Lochridge has returned from Atlanta, Ga., completing her first visit in five years to her former home. While there Mrs. Lochridge was entertained with a round of parties by her many Atlanta friends . . . Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Donovan, nee Mildred Iba, are expected down from Boca Raton this week for a visit. Mrs. Donovan is the daughter of Mrs. Edwin Iba and formerly attended the University of Miami. * * * Busy shopping these days are Mrs. Arthur H. Weiland and her daughter Miss Johanna Weiland whose marriage to Jack Hoehl will be a June 6 event, at the First Presbyterian Church. By way of diversion however, Johanna and Crutcher Field are leaving by motor on May 2nd for the Spring Frolicks at the Uniersity of Florida, where Johanna's fiance is in school. Later they will motor on to Duke University their alma mater, and then on to Washington, D.C. for a visit with Mrs. Robert McNaughton, nee Patty Adams, who is to be one of Johanna's attendants. On to New York they will see the shows and shop. They will be back the 16th. * * * William S. Wood, international famous water color artist has painted the portrait of Miss Betty Butler, Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity "dream" girl, which will be displayed today today for the first time at Mr. Wood's studio, 3100 Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Miss Butler was chosen at the fraternity's 8th annual dream girl dance held March 21st at the Flamingo Hotel, where Mr. Wood had his studio for the season. Now permanently in the Gables, Mr. Wood has commissions for the summer extending from Florida to Maine. He spent the past several summers at Southampton, N. Y., and has done hundreds of members of the social contingent summering there. * * * The Riviera Country Club will have another of its popular dance nights Saturday when members and their guests gather in the patio from nine to twelve oclock. Mr. and Mrs. T. P. Caldwell committee chairmen for entertainment will be on hand to greet guests. Art Giles and his orchestra will play for dancing. * * * A note to this desk from Mrs. William H. Ratterman of 913 Avenue Roderigo says that she and Mr. Ratterman are back once more in their beloved Coral Gables after several months on the West Coast. On arrival there Mrs. Ratterman was taken ill in Santa Barbara and delayed for some time, "but owing to good doctors and nursing, I am pretty much recovered and neither of us would exchange Florida for California", she writes.

To Attend Son's Graduation

Dr. and Mrs. F. E. Kitchens of 6710 LeJeune Road will drive to Alabama to attend the graduation of their son Jack from Marion Institute on May 23.
