It Says Here
(Continued from Page Four) new book of verse that he hopes to have published. It's been tentatively titled, "Susanna and the Elders" with some appropriate sub-titles . . . Charlie Tutan and Jimmie Henderson were both in Tallahassee this week . . . We hope they reminded "Chubby" Oelkers that he's still a Gableite and should act like one when the Biscayne Key bill comes up. We noticed that Lantaff and Gautier both made a big noble statement about refusing to support the water conservation bill because it would take land away from some of the folks who live on the edge of the canal. Then how can they do an about face and take land away from Coral Gables over its vigorous protests? It doesn't add up, boys . . . Captain "Buck" Buchanan and his Pratt Prattler staff are readying one final edition of the hospital newspaper. Buck almost got transferred out of here on 40-minutes notice the other day but effected a delay in orders . . . We'll miss them around the plant. They're a bunch of swell guys . . . If you want to get the lowdown on the speaker for the Chamber of Commerce dinner ask Obie Sutton, Jim Hoffman, Frank Holley or any of the other Kiwanians who heard him speak at a state convention. They say the guy is terrific. So if you haven't made your reservation, you'd better do so quick.
Plan Annual Breakfast
The Rosary Circle of the Society of the Little Flower will hold its May breakfast at 9:15 a.m. May 4 at the Barcelona Restaurant. Mrs. S. A. Shikany, Mrs. Sidney Bircher and Mrs. Percy Gilmore are taking reservations. All ladies of the parish are invited to attend.
Snap Talk
(Continued from Page One) day for supplies, but if all the merchants close, I'd be glad to." Paul Stegeman of Stegeman The Jeweler on Ponce de Leon Blvd: "If I had anything to say about making the decision I'd say let's close all day Wednesday. I expect to carry on as I have in past years, and my policy has been to close. However, if all the stores don't close, people that bring repair work to me would take it elsewhere, so I think it's better for all of us to close together. Closing half-day Wednesday would give us something to look forward to in the middle of the week in the summer, when we don't have too much business." Jay Braunstein of The Toggery Men's Wear on Miracle Mile: "It would be a good idea to take off half a day Wednesday if all the other shops do the same. All the merchants should close as a unit. We have more to gain than to lose by closing during the hot summer. If we all decided to close together, then people would know they couldn't shop on Wednesday afternoons whereas if only a few of us close shoppers won't know who is closed and who is open when they start out to shop. It would be more confusing. We should all close together."
