O. E. S. to Install Couple With Matron, Worthy Patron

Ethlyne Hittleman and her husband Philip Hittleman will be installed as worthy matron and worthy patron of Emmah Chapter, 175, Order of the Eastern Star, at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 3rd at the Scottish Rite Temple, Miami. Both Mr. and Mrs. Hittleman, who will receive the highest office in the organization, are residents of Coral Gables, at 760 Alhambra Circle. Mrs. Maybelle Ramey, past grand matron of the Grand Chapter of Florida will be installing officer. Other to be installed are Mrs. Sadie Weiss, assistant matron; William Lake, assistant patron; Mrs. Mollie Cooper, secretary; Mrs. Rae Frank, treasurer; Mrs. Charlotte Schwartz, conductress; Mrs. Ida Tretzman, chaplain; Mrs. Celia Cohan, warder; Mrs. Lillian Gilmer, Adah; Mrs. Rosalyan Gilmer, Ruth, Mrs. Sue Friednan, Esther; Mrs. Ruth Dubbins, Martha; Mrs. Dorothy Kalar, Electa and Mrs. Roselyn Schwartz, warder.

Episcopal

Services in St. Philip's Church next Sunday, the third Sunday after Easter, will be a Celebration of the Holy Communion at 8 a.m. Church School, 9 a.m. Morning Prayer at 11 a.m. with Sermon by the Rector, Dr. Christopher P. Sparling, subject, "The devil and his work." The Anthem "King All Glorious" by Barnby, soloist Mr. Gardner Bruglier, will be presented by the Choir, Voluntary "Adoration" by Boreswki and Postlude "O Worship the King" arranged by Hopkins will be presented by Mary Conover Winter, Organist and Choir Director.

Christian Science

First Church of Christ, Scientist in Coral Gables is opposite City Hall Park. Morning service 11 a.m. Evening service, 8 p.m. Sunday School, 11 a.m. Wednesday evening 8 o'clock. "PROBATION AFTER DEATH" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon which will be read in Churches of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world on Sunday, April 27. The Golden Text is: "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the first fruits of them that slept" (I Corinthians 15:19, 20). Among the citations which compose the Lesson-Sermon is the following from the Bible: "So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory" (I Corinthians 15:54). The Lesson-Sermon also includes the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "We must hold forever the consciousness of existence, and sooner or later, through Christ and Christian Science, we shall master sin and death. The evidence of man's immortality will become more apparent, in proportion as sin and beliefs up and the immortal facts of being are admitted" (428:23).

To Chicago By Plane

Mr. and Mrs. James A. Henderson 1030 Hardee Road will fly to Chicago soon with their three boys for about a week. From there they will go to New York City and then to Washington, D.C. for a few days.

MISS FRYAR IS HOSTESS

Miss Frances Elizabeth Fryar, president of the Florida State Club of Columbia University, New York City, and past president of the Dade County Art Teachers' Association will entertain members of the association at a buffet supper at 6:30 oclock tonight at her home 135 Avenue Calabria. Reports from the Southeastern Arts Convention, Chattanooga, and the Florida Education association convention in Tampa will be given. Miss Fryar has just returned from Chattanooga, Tenn., where she attended the Southeastern Arts Association convention last week end.

Joins Music Faculty

H. P. Dittrich, who plays the first oboe in the University of Miami Symphony orchestra, has joined the faculty of the Miami Conservatory and will teach woodwind instruments, at all the branches of the conservatory.

To Mountain Home

Mr. and Mrs. J. Lamar Paxson of Coral Gables will travel to Hendersonville, N.C., in June for a four or five month stay. While there they plan to entertain frequently, their many friends from this area who vacation in the mountains of North Carolina.

EPISCOPALIAN WOMEN ELECT NEW OFFICERS

At the annual meeting of the Woman's Auxiliary held recently at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, Mrs. C. P. Sparling was elected honorary president. Mrs. J. H. Thayer was named president; Miss Ardrey Sparling, 1st vice president; Mrs. J. A. Denoon, 2nd vice president; Mrs. J. R. Matthews, recording secretary; Mrs. J. W. Mueller, corresponding secretary; Mrs. E. B. Thompson, treasurer. Elected Christian Educational secretary was Mrs. W. F. Quesenberry; Christian Social Relations secretary, Mrs. J. S. Greene; United Thank Offering custodian, Mrs. R. L. Combs; Supply secretary, Mrs. A. L. Martin and Promotion secretary, Miss Helen Grace Warner. Installation of the new officers of the Altar Guild of the church will take place on St. Philip's day, Thursday May 1st with a Corporate Communion in the Church at 10 a.m. The new officers of this guild are president, Mrs. E. E. McCarty; vice president, Miss Helen Warner; secretary, Mrs. Winston Wynne; treasurer, Mrs. W. L. Thornquest and flower schedule, Mrs. W. W. Freeman.

Business Girls Meet

Coral Gables members of the Soroptomist Club will meet at the Miami Shores home of Mrs. Ruby Lee Minor at 8 oclock tonight for business meeting and get-to-gether.

Monthly Dinner Planned for Church Group

The monthly fellowship dinner, for members and friends of the First Christian Church, will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The fellowship class with Fred Albury, president and C. F. Pilley, teacher, will prepare and serve the dinner. Russell Price, newly elected chairman of the Christian Family committee, will have charge of the program following the dinner to which all members of the church are guests. Following the special music a film, "Is your Home Fun" will be shown. This gay film portrays two contrasting American families, like yours and your neighbor's, and how they managed their children and their problems.

League Plans Art Talk

The Pan American League will have an Exhibition of Water Colors and talk by Carl Folke Sahlin at 8 p.m. April 30th, at the Columbus Hotel. Mr. Sahlin, art director for the league, recently returned from Mexico and Panama with a new collection of water colors. While in Panama he spent some time with the interesting San Blas Indians.

Gets Appointment

Miss Betty Kuhl of Coral Gables has been named to the Freshman advisory council for 1947-48 at Duke University, Durham, N.C., according to Miss Ellen Huckabee, official advisor to the freshman and sophomore classes.
