Christian Science
"Everlasting Punishment" is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon which will be read in Churches of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world on Sunday, May 4. The Golden Text is: "Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty" (Job 5:17). Among the citations which comprise the lesson-sermon is the following from the Bible: "Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord God. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin" (Ezekiel 18:30). The lesson-sermon also includes the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy: "Lust, malice and all sorts of evil are diseased beliefs, and you can destroy them only by destroying the wicked motives which produce them. If the evil is over in the repentant mortal mind, while its effect s still remain on the individual, you can remove this disorder as God's lay is fulfilled and reformation cancels the crime" (404:10-15).

THEATRE CONTEST INSPIRES MANY Youngsters Like to Live in Coral Gables
"Almost perfect government makes Coral Gables a wonderful city to live in" wrote one teenage Gableite last week in the "It's A Wonderful Life To Live In Coral Gables" contest sponsored by the Gables theater. Inspired by the movie "It's A Wonderful Life", which played at the Gables April 10-14, Dan Boone, manager of the theater, decided to run a contest at Ponce de Leon High School to find out why the young people of this area think it's nice to live in Coral Gables. Many reasons were given, but almost everyone agreed that the friendly people, wonderful climate, recreation facilities, adequate shopping center, and beautiful homes make Coral Gables a model town. 15 Winners The 15 winners, who each won a pair of passes to the Gables Theater, are Jack Bradford, 932 Avenue Escobar; Jane White, 1029 Avenue Sevilla; Marilyn Reynolds, 18 South 3 Rr., South Miami; Claire Gulatli, 2809 Day Avenue; Carroll Kern, 3614 Alhambra Ct.; Betty Jones, 914 Madrid Ctreet; Bob Hertz, 6801 S.W. 37 St., Miami; Jack Munroe, 1207 Lisbon Street; Peggy Degnan, 3174 Florida Ave.; Bettie Bollinger, 913 Avenue Andalusia; Bill Hays, 825 Granada Groves Court; Dale Faust, South Miami; Marion Hansen, 7300 Bird Road; Rodger Norvell, 1111 Avenue Sorolla; and Richard Costner, 633 Avenue Altara. In addition to the obvious reasons for Coral Gables' popularity many humorous reasons were received, according to the three judges selected by the Chamber of Commerce. One girl wrote that "The city has two nice theaters, large dime stores, and a bank. This is why life is wonderful in Coral Gables." Another girl remarked that "It has beautiful shops with 'luscious' window displays." After commenting on the beauty and advantages of the city, one student concluded "I only wish that I lived there!" (P.S. Her address is in Coconut Grove!) But the fairer sex can't take all the credit for witty comments. One boy stated that "The people are so friendly and human". We certainly hope they are human! He later listed Coral Gables' "stately plams" as one of the reasons it's wonderful to live here. Apparently having forgotten the recent skeleton case, one young man remarked that "The Gables enjoys freedom from crime". Still another boy stated "Most of the homes are one story, and there are restrictions which make it impossible for someone to put up a 'shack' among them that would bring the value of the other homes down." Is that a one story "shock" or a larger one? On a more serious side, one student pointed out "The best thing of all is that it's getting better every day". Perhaps one of the best reasons given for living in Coral Gables was by the student who wrote "It has the most friendly people in the world. It seems that every neighbor's motto is 'Let me live in my house by the side of the road and be a friend of man'."
