CORAL GABLES Country Club Only 11 more days to make that reservation for tickets that will admit you and your guests to the opening night of "Jason"—your playmakers first production. Dial 4-7602 and Rolf Elliot, box office chairman, will set aside tickets for either the May 18 or 15 performance. There's a special dining room feature scheduled for the opening night to make it a four star event. All the fried chicken you can eat will be served from the barbecue. Reservations will be accepted, so call "Charles" at the club. If there are enough requests, "Jason" will be presented also on the night of the 19th. Readings for the second play to be held the third week in June are already in progress. If you can and like to act, or know how to put on make-up (theatrical, it is), or if you just want to take up tickets, you are welcome, because there is a job for every one. Or if you are interested in being the assistant director, get in touch with Dr. Cassell as all aspirants are urged to apply. The guidance and instruction group has been formed and approved. Permanent officers will be appointed at the next regular theatre group meeting, the date is still to be announced. It was a low net tie between Mrs. William Redelsheimer and Mrs. George Miller with a score of 69 in the Class A division when the Greater Miami Women's Golf Association spent the day on the club links. Mrs. Julia Green placed first in Class C with a score of 68. Second place was copped by Mrs. Fred Postal with a 72. After downing Hollywood in both divisions Sunday club netters wound up in third place in the South Florida Tennis League as the official season closed. The men downed their last opponent in the season with a 7-2 score, while the women's score of 2-1 tied them in third place with Flamingo Park players. Among those attending the concert Tuesday night were Colombian Consul General Gabriel Saravia and Costa Rican Vice Consul Walter Ashby and Mrs. Ashby, as well as Mrs. Joseph W. Sharp of Coconut Grove and her guests from Havana, Dr. Guana Gonzalez and Miss Lolita Reig Molina. Of things to come: Cotton-cool cottons—may be seen at the fashion show on following the regular club luncheon on May 10. Helen Lane is making arrangements to have the latest in summertime cottons brought to you. The Boys' Junior Golf Tournament for the Greater Miami area will be staged at the Granada Course this month. Two cups will be awarded. Perhaps you saw it right away, or maybe it wasn't until you were well into the column that you noticed a change had taken place. It was with no little temerity, Country Clubbers, that your new reporter hoped to slip into the niche so ably carved out by Chuck Wiley in your reading habit. Duly mindful of the precedent set by Chuck during the past months, your reporter will endeavor to carry out the duties of see-all—hear all—tell all. Twenty-one Are Initiated By Local Elks
Initiation of 21 new members into the order of the Coral Gables Elks Club 1676 highlighted last week's meeting. Officiating at the ritual was the West Palm Beach degree team consisting of Earl Blair, Exaulted Ruler; W. E. Poland, Jr., Leading Knight; C. W. Moore, Esquire; Clyde Tramwell, Chaplain; and George H. Sumerell, Inner Guard. Also on hand for the occasion was Edward F. Stumpf, Past Exalted Ruler and coach for the team, who was on the championship degree team which won honors of the Florida District South. More than 300 members were present for the ritual. The Palm Beach degree team is at present a contender for the State Championship, and it will compete at the State Convention in Tampa, May 17 through the 20, with teams from three other districts. The winner will go to Portland, Oregon in July to compete in the National Competition.
Troop Seven SCOUT
Seth Blakeman, leader of troop seven for the past ten years, received a transfer to Pan American World Airways recently and was forced to move to San Francisco, Cal. The troop is now headed by Rex Hawkins, Sr., and John Peacock. "Seth did a great deal for the troop and for the boys. He will be missed and is irreplacable both to the community and to the troop," stated John Peacock. BOYS RECEIVE AWARDS Two troop members received awards in court last week. They are Frank Newman and Jimmy Kingston. Roger Eastman received a merit badge for rabbit-raising. A troop camp is being planned for tonight and tomorrow at the troop's favorite camp site near International Airport. SCOUTS ATTEND DINNER Mrs. Ray Slater Murphy gave a dinner for six of the troop members recently at the Green Lantern. Mrs. Murphy donated 20 tents to the troop as well as the outdoor basketball court. The "Murphy tents" were used on the camping trip Saturday. Those attending the dinner were Frank Newman, Jimmy King, Roger Kingston, John Vanderslice, Jimmy Brinson and John Peacock. The monthly drill and inspection of all county Scout troops took place at Moore Park last week with Troop Seven carrying off top honors. JAMBOREE IN PARIS Three Troop Seven members will attend the International Boy Scout Jamboree to be held in Paris this summer. Bill Hampton, Jimmy Kingston and Frank Newman will go with former troop leader Seth Blakeman to Paris to attend the jamboree and then on a walking tour of Europe. TROOP CUP CAUSES COMPETITION Strong competition marks the contest to win the troop cup for the most outstanding patrol. The contest for this month has narrowed to two patrol, the Eagle patrol, headed by Frank Newman, and the Wolf patrol, headed by Bill Hampton. This monthly award is given for personal inspection, health, equipment to patrol corners, and to the winner of the most weekly events.

Letters Still Pour In To Life Cover Girl
Posing for Life magazine proved one thing to Betty Wagner, Coral Gables Youth Center youngster—she's learned the true meaning of the "power of the press." With letters still pouring in from all over the world, one of Betty's Alaskan admirers has offered to present her with gold if she'll write him. In the Monday mail, the Gables miss received correspondence from England, Holland, Honolulu, Midway Islands, West Indies and six letters from Canada.
