Breakfast Date Changed Coco Plum Women Change By-Laws Extend Club Year Through June; President Mrs. Ravlin Lauded

A change in the by-laws of the Coco Plum Woman's Club extends the club year through the month of June, thereby allowing for the setting forward of the May Breakfast date from May 7th to May 14th. This change will not interfer with the regular business meeting at 3 p.m. at the club house, on the May 7th date, presided over by Mrs. Fred Ravlin, retiring president. At this meeting committee chairmen are expected to hand in written reports of the past years activities. Mrs. Ravlin, a hard and efficient worker has earned the title of an inspirational leader. Her interest in the work of women and it's effectiveness in lifting the standards extends to every field of endeavor and in her own club has built up one of the outstanding organizations for communal good in the area. During her presidency club indebtedness has been paid off, a library functioning as a public service has been reestablished, the building inside and out has been put in excellent condition and means of adequate club income has been realized. She was pleased last week at the State Federation meeting in Palm Beach to acknowledge her position as head of the fastest growing club in the state, new members for the past year numbering seventy-two. Monday May 12, at 3 p.m. at the club house the retiring executive board will meet with the newly elected executive board to transfer all books and papers belonging to the club. The new executive board will include committee chairmen, though these chairmen will not have the right to vote.

FIVE GABLES WOMEN ELECTED BOARD MEMBERS MIAMI BRANCH, NLAPW

Mrs. Lewis Painter Clephane was elected first vice president of the Miami Branch, National League American Pen Women at the annual meeting preceding the breakfast held Friday at the Everglades Hotel. Mrs. Ralph L. Engle was elected recording secretary; Mrs. Francis Dolan, treasurer; Mrs. Harry L. Marshall, chaplain and Mrs. John E. Norman, parliamentarian. All from Coral Gables, they and their supporting officers were immediately installed. Mrs. Edwin J. Barker, president succeeds Mrs. John M. Murrell. Results of the annual rewards for the year 1946-47 were read at the meeting and include equal merit prizes i Art for Bessie Helstrom, Pearl Worthington and Evelyn Ireland. In music: 1st prize to Marie Tello Phillips for secular song; tied for honorable mention in secular song, Mrs. Nora Hudson and Marguerite Gibson. For sacred song, 1st prize Grace Polk, honorable mention, Nora Hudson. Mrs. Hudson also took prizes for waltz and march. Lecture prizes, 1, 2 and 3 were taken by Marguerite Gibson, Caroline Charles and Marie Tello Phillips respectively. Short Story: a tie for first prize to Mrs. Phillips and Susan Fort Redfearn. Monthly poetry prizes were won by Gertrude Gore Fowler, first and popular in November; by Mrs. Fowler first and Mary Beale Car, popular in December; by Fay Lewis Noble, first and popular by Carrie E. Yeiser in January; by Marion E. Thorp Diller, first and Polly McKibben, popular in February; by Mrs. Fowler first and popular in March; and by Virginia Connett, first and Marion E. Thorpe Diller popular in April.

Mrs. Meyer Hostess

Mrs. Nina B. Meyer of 4371 S.W. 16th St., will be hostess at 12 o'clock luncheon May 9 for the members of group 8 of the Woman's Association of the First Presbyterian Church.

Senior Music Group Meets

The Miami Conservatory Senior music club will meet at 8 p.m. Saturday at the home of vice president Miss Roberta Sargent, 1255 S.W. 17th terrace. Wilfred Smith, teacher of voice at the Conservatory will sing a group of solos and talk on "Music for Youth".

Lions Auxiliary To Meet

Coral Gables Lions Club auxiliary will hold its next regular luncheon meeting at 12 noon Wednesday at the home of Mrs. George B. Hurst, 222 Avenue Romano. Mrs. Lewis W. Robinson Jr., and Mrs. K. P. Ringer are co-hostesses.

GABLES CLUB WOMEN PLAN MAY BREAKFAST Festivities To Be Held At Columbus Hotel Roof

Coral Gables Woman's Club will hold its annual May breakfast at 12 noon Wednesday, May 7, on the roof of Columbus Hotel. Mrs. Reid Bronson is general chairman. Mrs. Curtis Haggard represents the juniors with Mrs. Lawrence Schroeder acting as co-chairman. Mrs. William H. Merriman is in charge of decorations. Mrs. Earl DeNoon will present the musical program. Mrs. Helen Burress will sing, accompanied by Eleanor Clark Linton. Miss Doris Rickard will give harp solos. Honored guests will be Mrs. Don Peabody, honorary life president; Mrs. W. B. Rosborough, past president; Mrs. W. Keith Phillips, Mrs. Marie Tello Phillips, Mrs. C. Ruffel Morgan, state junior chairman; Mrs. L. B. Cluny, junior director of district eleven; Mrs. Constance Gee, Miss Helen Reynolds and Miss Eleanor Fair. Speaker will be Mrs. L. J. McCaffrey, president of the State Federation of Women's Clubs. New officers of the club will be installed by Mrs. William T. Hille:, director of district 11 as follows: President, Mrs. William Cox; first vice president, Mrs. J. A. DeNoon; second vice-president, Mrs. Joseph Cox; recording secretary, Mrs. Stanley Fosgate; corresponding secretary, Mrs. Julian Jordan; treasurer, Mrs. Ross Beckstrom; first director, Mrs. William T. Hilles; second director, Mrs. Fred Miller, and third director, Mrs. Reed Bronson.

Election of officers for 1947-48 Alpha Epsilon Phi sorority was held Monday night. New presiding officers are: Hope Tanenbaum, Dean; Gladys Novack, subdean; Isadora Margolis, Scribe; Mona Pastroff, recording-secretary; Ruth Goldstise, treasurer; and Loise Krupsaw, historian.
