Pastor Chooses Patriotic Theme for Sunday Sermon
"Russian Magic" is the message of the 11 o'clock morning worship service at the Country Club Christian Church, 1000 East Ponce de Leon Boulevard. "It has been said," states the Rev. Harvey John Fritsch, pastor, "that all the world is a stage. This being so, we are witnessing the feature act-'Russia, the Master Magician.' With the comintern supplying the stage setting of despair, murder and espionage, Russia is employing the forte of all magicians; deception. Through men like Wallace and his fellow-travelers, she is holding in outstretched arms a pretty bauble of Russian brotherly love. Long years of painstaking planning have gone into the making of this bauble. It sparkles brilliantly with the ideology of freedom of the masses-it glows deeply with the fires of social equality. But, like all magicians, the bauble is used only for deception, for while millions of Americans are being hypnotized by the bauble, Russia, the master magician, through the Comintern and its vast system of espionage is making preparations for the climax of the act-the rape of the world." Bible School meets at 10 a.m. with classes for all ages. Christian Endeavor meets at 6:45 p.m. All young people are invited to attend.

Gables Presbyterian
The Presbytery's Commission, on request of the congregation, left the completion of the charter membership roll open until August 1, during which it is anticipated many others will unite with the church. The congregation elected Mr. Selden Stewart and Mr. John Vernam as elders, members of its first session, Mr. John Bouvier, Mr. Leonard Bostwick, Mr. Frank A. Taylor and Mr. W. J. McCleod, Jr., were elected deacons to constitute the church's first board of deacons. These gentlemen were ordained and installed into office by the commission and entered immediately upon the duties of office in the church. The congregation on being organized extended a formal call to Rev. B. M. Larson, D.D., to become the church's pastor. This call was accepted by him and the commission installed him as pastor of the Gables Presbyterian Church. The congregation requesting it, the church was christened the "Gables Presbyterian Church." The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be administered at the 11 a.m. church service on next Sunday. Dr. Larson announces as his Communion Meditation theme, "The Face In The Cup." The congregation is using the Merrick Demonstration School, where they meet each Sunday morning at 9:45 for Sunday School and at 11 a.m. for church worship services. The session of the church will meet next Sunday at 10:45 a.m., preceding the morning church service for the purpose of receiving members into the fellowship of the church.

The golden text is "To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever" (Jude 1:25). Among the citations which comprise the lesson sermon is the following from the Bible: "All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. For thou are great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone. Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name. I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart; and I will glorify thy name for evermore" (Psalms 86:9, 10-12). The lesson-sermon also includes the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "We shall obey and adore in proportion as we apprehend the divine nature and love Him understandingly, warring no more over the corporeality, but rejoicing in the affluence of our God ... We worship spiritually, only as we cease to worship materially. Spiritual devoutness is the soul of Christianity" (140:8-12,16-18).
