B-z-z! B-z-z! There Goes Ed But Heck, Here Comes Santa!
Ed Rogers stepped into one of the deep freeze units he displays at his Alhambra Circle emporium; shoved the dial up to "quick freeze"; then closed the door. Seconds later, via Atomic Distance Diminisher (sorry, none in stock—but Ed'll put you on the list) the chairman of the Christmas Lighting committee, Merchants' Bureau of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, flashed some North Pole bulletins to panting, perspiring Gableites: Six thousand, six hundred feet of downtown business thoroughfares will glitter with green and red Yuletide lights this December. More than 6,000 bulbs will be required to beam out Coral Gables' Christmas greeting, starting from the intersection of Ponce de Leon Boulevard and Coral Way north to Avenue Menores, and along Coral Way from Douglas Road to City Hall. Some 26,400 feet—five miles—of wire will be utilized in the civic project that is the Merchants' Bureau's answer to newcomers who ask, "But how do you get that Christmas spirit without snow?"
