Coral Gables Women Dare Rain and More Rain To Attend Final Get Acquainted Party Tuesday

NESTLING FOR THE SLEEP to which they were entitled when 'phoned' at 6:30 a. m. for invitation to the 'Come as you are' party, are Mrs. Henry D. Frantz and Mrs. Walter Cunningham, while Mrs. Charles Wakeman displays the 'bread' she was toasting. Standing, Mrs. William Cox, knife poised on that potato and Mrs. Charles De Camps, hostess for the final summer coke party of the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club, who holds the bamboo pole avocado picker, she was wielding when called. Riviera-Times photo by Robert Binner Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club, old and prospective new members let down their hair and became chummy in a "Come as you are" party Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Charles H. De Camps, 730 Avenue Palermo. Novel idea of the membership chairman Mrs. Jack Trout, who, by the way was unable to attend her final meeting, due to illness, the 18 attending the party responded whole-heartedly to the invitation to come as "you are or were when called." Mrs. Trout planned to start calling some of the girls as early as 6:30 a.m. (the time she rises every morning with two youngsters in the house) to try and get a few still in bed. She succeeded. Several came wearing pajamas and robes. To begin with the hostess, pretty Mrs. DeCamps, was actually out in her garden picking avocados with her long bamboo pole (shown in the picture) when called. Using the idea as her decorations theme, Mrs. DeCamps strung yellow ribbons on the stem of a succulent avocado leaf and presented each guest one plus a big lucious green long necked avondo when she arrived. Avocado leaves decorated not only the hostess' brief play suit, thereby concealing same, but decorated the house and the outside of the tub containing the ice cold cokes. Peeling Potato Mrs. William Cox, senior president and invited guest to the party was peeling potatoes when called. She came bearing potato and knife. Mrs. Benjamin Turner was knitting when called, a job she likes and one her friends usually find her doing most of the time. This time it was a heaven shade of blue sweater suit for her newest baby son. Rain Rain Although it rained most of Tuesday, the rain did not keep the following from attending: Mrs. Robert Ludwig, Mrs. J. H. Askerman, Mrs. R. E. Miller, Mrs. Charles Wakeman, Mrs. Roger Barreto, Mrs. George Brennan, Mrs. Augustus Kerr, Mrs. George Patterson, Mrs. Paul Heffernan, Mrs. George J. Vila and Mrs. Percy Pitts from among prospective members. Members attending were Mrs. Laddle Piowatie, Mrs. Bernard Good, Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Walter Cunningham, Mrs. Frank Taylor, Mrs. George Coleman, Mrs. David Sheffield, Mrs. Henry D. Frantz and the hostess.
