Gables Presbyterian
Dr. B. M. Larson, pastor of the Gables Presbyterian Church worshipping in the Merrick Demonstration School, 39 Zamora Avenue, has announced as his sermon topic for the 11 a. m. service, "Three Times Eighty" and which he will say in part, — "The Scriptures speak of a city which "lieth foursquare, the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal." This measurement is of perfect symmetry. Its three dimensions are in perfect balance. The citizens of this community are also symmetrical. They are well balanced, right on the three dimensions of life. They are first right with God. Having been found of Christ, they yielded to Him as Savior and Lord, and found in Him reconciliation with God. On the dimensional line of relation with God they are right. We are in a world in which we live in relation with other people. The peace of the community, the state and the world is dependent upon man being right on this dimensional line of relations, first to God, and then to fellow men. The life of peace is one of love. Love is the fulfillment of the law. The motivation is the love of God in the heart of man. With each love within men sees all other men as God sees them, with all the potential possibilities that are theirs if God may bring into being within them. The life that is dominated with the love of God is right on the social dimensional line. Such persons are right themselves. They have a personal approval, to them life is an inner harmony. They have a peace that passeth all understanding. They have a good conscience void of every offense. The house of their life is in order. The life that is three times right, right on the line of relation with God, right on the line of relation with other men, right within, is in its completeness a cube. Such a life is solid, substantial, stable. You cannot over-turn a cube. Shake it, turn it anyway you like, it will always settle down on its base. Sunday School with classes for all ages meets at 9:45 a.m.

"Christ Jesus," is the subject of the lesson-sermon which will be read in Churches of Christ, Scientist, throughout the world on Sunday, August 31. The Golden Text is "God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved," (John 3:17). Among the citations which comprise the lesson-sermon is the following from the Bible: "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth ... And of his fullness have we all received, and grace for grace" (John 1:14,16). The lesson-sermon also includes the following passage from the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," by Mary Baker Eddy: "Christ, Truth, was demonstrated through Jesus to prove the power of Spirit over the flesh—to show that truth is made manifest by its effects upon the human mind and body, healing sickness and destroying sin . . . Christ illustrates that blending with God, his divine principle, which gives man dominion over all the earth" (316:7-21).
MEET THE JAYCEES Travel Convinced Rowe There's No Place Like Home
During the four and a half years he was in the service, Clark C. Rowe's dream was to get back to the Gables—and to establish a local business that would enable him to live here the rest of his life. As Master/Sergeant in the Army Air Forces, Rowe traveled the length and breadth of the country but "there was no place like Coral Gables," he says. "I guess I'm prejudiced — I saw the town grow from nothing into the most beautiful city in the world," Rowe explains. The Rowes came to South Florida 23 years ago, when Clarke was ten years old. "I watched them make the Venetian Pool out of a rock pit, and saw the building of the Biltmore Hotel and its golf course. "I remember I got out of grammar school to watch the first street car pull into Coral Gables from Miami," he recalls. "I've watched Coral Gables grow — so I know what a great future we have in this city." Discharged from the Army, Rowe lost no time in setting out to realize his wartime dream. He accomplished it by establishing the liquor business that bears his name at 4005 Aurora St. An active Jaycee, Rowe was born at Fortress Monroe, Virginia. He attended Miami Senior High School and became affiliated with Sigma Nu fraternity at the University of Florida, which he attended for two years. Both he and his wife, Betty, are enthusiastic fishermen and spend as much time as possible going after the big ones, or sailing lazily around Biscayne Bay.
