Although they had lived in Miami practically since 1940, Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Manrose and their young daughter, Shirley, have only recently completed their new home at 333 Avenue Viscaya, to which they have moved. Shirley, 13, attends Ada Merritt Junior High school, and with the crowded conditions of the Coral Gables schools apparently will continue, postponing her transfer. Mr. Manrose is a musician, resting from a busy winter season, just now enjoying a summer vacation. Joining the ranks of the bankers residing in Coral Gables are Sam Porter, cashier of the Florida National Bank and Mrs. Porter, who have bought one of the new tropical bungalows at 3800 S. W. 60th Avenue. The Porters are originally from Winter Haven, and have a very young son, Mark, just six months old. Also joining the ranks of new home owners on S. W. 60th Avenue are Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Dekle formerly of Monticello with sons, Patrick Hal, 31⁄2 years and Keith Clifton, 31⁄2 months, residing at 3821. Mr. Dekle is an attorney with Shutts and Bowen, Miami attorneys . . . Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Fincher, with young daughter, Mary Frances, 3, are at 3736. From Clearwater, Mr. Fincher is in the insurance business . . . Dr. and Mrs. George Schmidt, formerly of Marshall, Minn., are residing at 3900. Dr. Schmidt is associated with Dr. Sterling Nichol of Miami. Their son is John Windell. Beginning at 3800 S. W. 59th avenue with Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Ulmer, six families have bought or built new homes to which they have recently moved. Formerly from Arkansas and other points in Florida, the Ulmers have two children, son Stephen 5 and daughter Mary Ann 8. Mr. Ulmer is with the internal revenue . . . at 2900 are Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Shelton, formerly of Dayton, O., with daughters Judith 5 and Barbara 2. Mr. Shelton is in the engineering department, City of Miami . . . Residing at 3835 are Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Ogden and children Jackie, Jerry and Joan. Formerly of Detroit and Georgia, Mr. Ogden is a salesman with the Holsum Bread Co. . . . Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Baldwin, residing at 3943 are from Buffalo, N. Y. Mr. Baldwin is with the Telephone Co. and the Baldwins are enjoying a visit from their nieces, Judith and Nancy . . . Also with the Telephone Co. is C. E. Sheperd with Mrs. Sheperd and children Michael and Patty Anne. The Shepards formerly lived in Brockton, Mass . . . Completing the sixth family on 59th Avenue are Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Hostetter at 3827. From Bucyrus, O., and more recently Miami, Mr. Hostetter is a commercial artist. Their little daughter is named Donna and she is 4.

Mrs. Hart To Be Church Group Hostess

The women of the congregation of the Gables Presbyterian Church will meet at 10:30 a. m. Friday, Sept. 5th at the home of Mrs. Maurice Hart, 333 Avenue Cadima. Miss Olive Beamon will lead the Bible study and prayer. A covered dish luncheon will be served at noon.

Leases Gables Apartment

Building Inspector G. B. Campbell, Mrs. Campbell and their two daughters, Clara Fay, 16 and Shirley Ann 12, moved to 35 Avenue Phoenetta this week. The Campbells have been residing in northeast Miami. Clara Fay will attend Ponce de Leon High school and Shirley Ann will enter Coral Gables Elementary.

MRS. JACK TROUT, membership chairman, whose back to the farm outfit Wednesday at the Junior Club women's jamboree consisted of overalls, plaid shirt and bare feet. Mrs. Bernard Good—co-chairman wore a little girl's plaid dress, pig tails and boots. Mrs. Fairchild, "Pinky" to her friends and hostess for the picnic, was in jeans, plaid shirt, boots. Renuart, 717 North Greenway Drive will be interested to know that the couple has reached Chateau Frontenac, Quebec, Canada. After a visit in Chicago, and a trip on the Great Lakes, they stopped at Mackinac Island and Parry Sound. They also visited Niagara Falls and Montreal. At the Chateau they have met Gableites Dr. and Mrs. Sidney Cassel and the newly-wed Mr. and Mrs. Edward E. Beals on their honeymoon. The Renuarts will return to Coral Gables Sept. 5th. * * * Betty Meriwether Lewis postcards this department from Atlanta. Ga., that she expects to be in Coral Gables today (arriving yesterday) and will be the guest of her brother, Jack Lewis, 158 Prospect Drive, Coconut Grove. She is joining some friends flying over to Havana on Saturday. Miss Lewis, who has won her wings as a professional model, is instructing in the American Academy of Modelling in Atlanta—a branch of a New York studio. Betty and Jack are the daughter and son of Mrs. Robert Freeman of Coral Gables and Atlanta. * * * Taking the cooling breezes off the ocean for the month of August are Mrs. Edith Dreesbach Rowe and her mother, Mrs. Philip Dreesbach who have an apartment at The Tower, 6061 Collins Ave. In September Mrs. Rowe will be off on vacation, motoring through North Carolina, then Atlanta, Detroit and Chicago. Before returning late in October she plans to visit Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Delhaye in Charenton, Iowa.

Auxiliary Unit Gets Miniature Set of Colors

Commander F. R. Wickard and Adjutant Paul Greenaway presented a miniature set of colors to Coral Gables American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 98, at their last meeting, held at the Legion home. Twelve of the members enrolled for the Volunteer Hospital Workers' School, to be held at the Pratt Hospital, October 17th and 18th. The executive board held its meeting Thursday at the home of Mrs. Lynn Upchurch. After the meeting luncheon was served by Mrs. Upchurch and a nominal sum was charged. Members not bringing articles to make for the Christmas Gift Shops in the V. A. hospitals were fined, and all money collected was earmarked for the Grahain Childrens' Hospital Fund. Plans were made for initiation; the department president's visit; a membership tea and the next rummage sale. The next meeting of Unit 98 will be September 10th at the Legion home. This is the only meeting in September, but on the second meeting date, September 24th, an informal Membership Tea will be given from 2 to 4 p. m. All members and prospective members are invited.

On Buying Trip and Vacation

Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stegeman and children have returned from a vacation and buying trip. They motored to Ohio where they visited Mrs. Stegeman's parents, leaving the children at their home in Hamilton, while Mr. and Mrs. Stegeman visited the Chicago Merchandise Mart, buying new beautiful items in the jewelry line for their retail Gables store.

Kappa Delts To Meet

Mrs. F. M. Hudson of 1632 N. W. 10th st., will be hostess for the Kappa Delta alumnae monthly meeting at 8 p. m. Thursday.

To Visit Sister

Miss Mary D. Carter who has been studying art at the University of Georgia will arrive tomorrow for a visit with her sister and brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Randolph A. Malone, Jr., 2401 S. W. 21st Street. Miss Carter is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Carter, 341 Avenue Madeira, and a graduate of the University of Miami.

In Mountain Cabin

Mr. and Mrs. Louie Lanford and children are living in a mountain cabin at Sylvan, N. C., 15 miles from Waynesville, and having a grand time, they postcard. A motor trip to Waynesville revealed many Miamians there, also at Gatlinburg, Tenn. They will return in two weeks.

Sojourns at Riviera

W. H. Menneske who resides at the Solana Hotel, Coral Gables, is vacationing at the Riviera Hotel, Daytona Beach.

Mothers' Club Announces Meeting

The Mothers' Club of Alpha Gamma Delta will be entertained this month at the home of Mrs. Donald MacArthur 558 N. E. 94th St. at 8 p. m., Tuesday, Sept. 2. At this meeting a new slate of officers will be elected for the ensuing year.

Building Gables Home

Joining the group of residents, who formerly lived in North Carolina line are Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Rogers of Wilmington who have leased the house at 335 Avenue Sarto until their own home, now building in the Gables, is completed. Their children are Conley 18 and David 9. Mr. Rogers is commercial agent for the Seaboard Railway Co.

Seek Gables Home

Renting a Coral Gables home for the summer while looking for a place to buy are Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jensen of 1025 Avenue Catalonia. Formerly residing in Chicago, Mr. Jensen is retired.
