Hurricanes' Punting Again Proving Formidable GHAUL AND AL KASULIN PACE KICKERS
Having completed over half of their practice chores before launching their 1947 football campaign against the Baylor Bears of the Southwest Conference in the Orange Bowl September 26, the University of Miami Hurricanes are sure to rate superlatives in one department at least this fall, and that is punting. Number one punter on the team is, of course, Harry Ghaul, who topped the nation's kickers in 1945 and who finished in the first five again last year despite the handicap of a leg injury. Over a two year period, the husky Burlington, N. J. fullback has averaged better than 42 yards from the scrimmage line on his punts. This year, though he lost a week from practice early this fall with a scrimmage injury, he appears to be in much better shape than he was last fall and his kicks are really booming. Barring the unexpected, Harry is expected to add a couple of yards to his average of the last two seasons. Kasulin Good, Too When Ghaul is sidelined, the kicking chores will fall to Al Kasulin of W. Hazleton, Pa., another junior, and the fans who have watched the two kickers in action say there is little to choose between the two. Both kick 'em high and far and both are accomplished quick kickers. Kasulin played varsity football before the war and was a tremendous kicker in those days. Now, out of the service and a bit heavier, he puts even more power into his kicks and he will give Ghaul a battle for distance all the way. Kasulin played halfback for Miami in 1941 and 1942 but has been shifted to the fullback spot this fall. Behind this pair of superlative kickers, the Hurricanes have a flock of boys who can average from 36 to 38 yards consistently and if the University of Miami doesn't have the individual and team leadership of the nation this year, it will be because some records are broken elsewhere.
RIVIERA-TIMES CLASSIFIEDS WILL SELL ANYTHING!! Know what this is? Well, to bring you up on your zoology, it's called a Honey Bear or South American Kinkajou. It's being offered for sale in the classified columns of today's Riviera-Times because the owner, Mrs. C. L. Powell, 535 Aragon Avenue, says he's becoming too big for her to keep anymore. Maybe you haven't a honey bear to sell, but no matter what it is you want to offer for sale, a Riviera-Times classified will help you sell it.

Three Coral Gables residents, Mrs. Hortense Wolfert Ingersoll, Miss Jean M. Cohen and Michael Aaron Levine received graduate teaching certificates during the month of August and Mrs. Helen Edwards Gwaltney of Coral Gables was issued a provisional graduate certificate, according to State Department of Education reports. Five hundred and fifty nine teaching certificates were issued by the state department during the past month, an increase of 132 over the amount issued during July, State School Superintendent Colin English announced yesterday. One hundred and twenty nine of the certificates were issued to out-of-state applicants who applied and qualified for the Florida teaching permits. English said that 99 post-graduate certificates, 287 graduate, 17 undergraduate, 60 provisional, and 126 temporary certificates were issued during the month. There was an increase in the number of men applying for certificates, 144 male teachers receiving certificates. Last year during August only 56 certificates to male teachers were issued.
