COUNTRY CLUBBER

By GORDON TAYLOR The "ice cream and soda fountain facilities" mentioned in this column recently means TEEN AGE BAR. That, dear members, means that the old band shell is going to give away to a new structure devoted entirely to drug store cowboys and bobby soxers. If a senior member steps up and says "Gimme a double banana split", he may get all kinds of glares from teenagers whose premises he will invade. Not only that, their bar will be decorated and lighted the same as the plans call for in its big brother on the other side of the service alley. Some doings, Some plans. Thriller Library There isn't anything we won't do to amuse and entertain so here's a new one, you readers of Screams and Terrors. Mrs. Albert E. Harum is the chairman of our cost-you-nothing exchange library as of right now. She intends to get a couple of book shelves set aside in the Club so you can leave your bloody thrillers and pick up a like numbe: from a brother guz- zler of crime and death. Person- ally, I'm so lazy that I borrow all my whodunits from member Mrs. Edgar Johns who gets 'em all bound and four to a binding. Give Julia a call at 4-1634 and this clas- sical library will get going in nothing flat. When the beautiful Two-bit covers have had the gloss read off we'll pass Mrs. Fritz Gordon a call to pick them up and forward some to her own library at Chattahoochee. I can imagine those inmates will have plenty of material for their pleasure by Xmas. Busy Calendar Long before the holidays, how- ever, a glimpse at the calendar will give you an iden how busy you'll be. For instance, another fashion show is scheduled for Thursday Noon, November 20th and another on the evening of Fri- day, December 12th. Election day for the club officers is November 3rd. The nominating committee came up with an excellent list of candidates and your ballot will reach you soon. The Philharmonic Concert is this coming Tuesday, October 28th and that big, big costume party for Halloween is the day after. The theatre comes forth with another production November 3rd, 4th and 6th. Grace Davis is about ready to chairman some swanky parties for you. Etc, Etc, etc, etc, etc., Chief Showman, Ike Macy, brought a touch of international- ism to the tennis courts Monday by matching Mrs. Patricia Cann- ing Todd and Doris Hart against himself and Frank Froehling. They split sets. Dick Bell and Buzz Bis- mark won the set they played against Mrs Todd and Miss Hart and both men look like they were helium injected. The plans the players have for improvements of our courts are pretty swell. Good going fellows. Have you tennis fans noticed that no final news ever came through on the results of the Men's Singles game that was to be played by Frank Froeh- ling and Jack Waters? Why? Well, it seems from Ike's latest report, the tournament was won by Frank Froehling by default in that before it was played, Jack Waters took over Ike's job as ten- nis pro at La Gorce. Get Your Costumes The figures you saw Monday night flitting around the patio in front of a red lighted glow from the band shell were not comman- dos. They were the committee working on the plans for the Hal- loween party this coming Wednes- day. Get your COSTUMES guys. For once I can hide behind some- thing other than a five o'clock shadow. OUTWARD BOUND (aren't we all) is set to your convenience. It is set to run Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this time so your foot- ball plans will not be interfered with. H. T. Nugent, in charge of tickets is an organizer de luxe, so call the Club anytime between one and nine PM for reservations. The dining room will be open Mon- day night, the 3rd, for the infor- maton of you hungry people. First nighters are given first preference, even to Smorgasbord. The golf course is back in work- ing order after having its face washed, so keep in touch with Umps Clark about the Saturday and Wednesday one-day tourna- ments he and golf chairman, Bill Gorman have cooked up. Boots Royall, ex-theatre secre- tary, is on her way to Hong Kong ... The H. T. Nugents brought guests Pam and Andy Johnston back for an encore . . . Jean and John Witzleben (new members) have as their guest Miss Eileen Patnude . . . Bob Floyd and his pretty wife were full of commis- sioner race and new baby talk all at the same time (last Saturday). Earl De Noon is a name you will know better if you don't already. The Bridge Rally, Thursday, October 16th went off with a bang and everyone had a grand time. Besides the Buffet of Chicken ala King there were door prizes the first two of, which were won by
