General Tire Rezoning Denied

General Tire of Miami's efforts to find a new home for one of its stations whose lease is running out is proving difficult. The firm's latest move to erect a station on the northwest corner of Douglas Road and Avenue Giralda failed Monday. The Zoning Board voted to deny the proposal of Elmer E. Tuttle to rezone his property for the station. Several Coral Gables and Miami property owners opposed the plan. General Tire seeks a new home for its present station at the northwest corner of Salzedo Street and Giralda Avenue. A previous effort to move the station across the street to the northeast corner also failed when the City Commission turned down the proposal. A Circuit Court suit was subsequently filed and is pending.
