Ken Thompson Is Chosen New President of Rotary

R. Kenneth Thompson, controller for Crowder & Associates, Inc., a Coral Gables insurance agency, has been elected president of the Rotary Club. Thompson, who will take office July 1, will succeed Frank Kerdyk. W. Hamilton Hayes, slated to take over the presidency from Kerdyk, resigned recently. Hayes, former vice president of Daniels Department Store and president of the Chamber of Commerce, is now with First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Miami. Thompson has been a member of the Coral Gables Rotary Club for eight years. He and his wife Betty live in the home they built 10 years ago at 5511 San Vicente Ave. R. K. THOMPSON Rotary President

10 Men Are Nominated for Chamber's Board

Ten local leaders have been selected by the Nominating Committee of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce as nominees to replace five men on the Board of Directors. They are John Beverley, International Petroleum Co. Ltd.; Dr. Robert L. Cherry, DDS; Owen Freed, attorney; Frank Guilford, attorney, James Hartnett, insurance. Ed Kellerman, Consumers Water Company; Robert H. McTague, Lester & McTague, Realtors; Sam G. Miller, Sears, Roebuck & Company; Rolfe Neill, Coral Gables Times and The Guide; and G. E. Smith, Communications Co., Inc. Additional names may be submitted, according to Manager Lee Smith, by getting up a petition with at least five members 10 days prior to the March 29 election. Members of the board who will serve one or more additional years are Robert J. Bradley, Edward F. Brown, W. Hamilton Hayes, Robert R. Hildreth, Frank E. Kerdyk, Byron M. Nelson, Edward T. Rempe, Dr. Richard E. Strain, Hans R. Wedemeyer and Robert E. Yoxall.
