9 Little Women in Rehearsal For Their Big Moment in Ballet
Every Saturday afternoon, at 3 p.m., just about when the day is done, it's the beginning of a two-hour ballet rehearsal for nine Coral Gables and SW area girls. The girls are area members of the Junior Ballet, a branch of the Miami Ballet. It was organized two years ago to give talented children from nine to 13 years old an opportunity to perfect their talent. The couple who started the Junior Ballet (who totals 19) were Miss Renee Zintgraff, that group's director, and Thomas Armour, artistic director of the Miami Ballet Company. Miss Zintgraff and Armour will present the Junior Ballet and Miami Ballet in their annual spring performance April 28 at the Dade County Auditorium. The music for the Junior Ballet's portion of the show, entitled "Night Glade," was written by 29-year-old William Homer Rohn, who lives at 9700 SW 92nd Ave. Rohn, who took piano, violin and organ lessons before he was 12, has studied at the New England Conservatory, American Conservatory, University of Miami, De Pauw University. He has played with Calument Symphony Orchestra and Terre Haute Symphony. Miss Zintgraff, who lives at 6511 Maynada St., became interested in ballet through her mother, a Russian dancer. Her father was German-Italian. Miss Zintgraff, born in Asuncion, capital of Paraguay, South America, had performed with the Miami Ballet for five years before starting the Junior Ballet. Area girls in the Junior Ballet are Judy Friedman, 3001 SW 2nd Ave.; Marvi Wynn, 12201 SW 60th Ct.; Margo Scheiderman, 830 Paradiso Ave.; Mimi Golfman, 740 Sistina Ave. Patty Lewy, 918 S. Greenway Dr.; Joan Lauter, 3210 SW 21st St.; Sharyn Vann, 1851 SW 36th Ave.; and Jessica Engel, 6405 Leonardo St.
Lenient Judge
For Allene Drake it was her first ticket in 30 years' driving and the judge was understanding. "Suspended fine," said Judge Jack Turner in Metro Court here this week. The defendant had pleaded she didn't see the stop sign she ran through. Judge Turner emphasized that mandatory court isn't "to inconvenience people but to lower the death rate." He referred to a recent accident where an illegal U-turn caused a three-car smashup.

Margaret Hit Margaret So Margaret Missed John F.
Two girls named Margaret — one of them Miss Florida — tangled fenders at Red Road and Country Club Prado Saturday morning with the beauty queen missing her appointment to see President John F. Kennedy at the testimonial for Sen. George Smathers. Margaret E. DeFreitas, 22, of 39101 SW 68th Ave., wound up instead getting treated at Doctors' Hospital. Officer R. J. Durkis said Miss Florida was northbound on Red Road making a right turn when her car collided with another car operated by Margaret Cook Scott, 27, of 5870 SW Fifth St. southbound on Red and turning on Red. Damage to the cars was slight, but Margaret Scott was charged with careless driving.
