Benjamin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward G. Benjamin, 625 San Lorenzo Ave., began recruit training Feb. 9 at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. ★ ★ ★ Richard Ginn, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Ginn, 4065 Bonita Ave., and D. J. Napoli, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald J. Napoli of 700 Anastasia Ave., received bids from Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at Stetson University, Deland, during the spring rush. ★ ★ ★ Donna E. Finerty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Finerty, 630 San Lorenzo Ave., was among 335 coeds at the University of Wisconsin honored for high scholarship at the honors luncheon conducted by Sigma Epsilon Sigma, national honor society for freshmen women at the University. ★ ★ ★ Charles T. Sands, son of Mrs. Irene Sands, 5601 Orduna Dr., is a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance and Commerce, where he pledged Beta Sigma Rho fraternity. ★ ★ ★ Miss Judi Philipson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Irving S. Philipson, 808 Jeronimo Dr., was one among 10 candidates for the crown of "Co-ed Colonel" Boston University's annual Military Ball held March 9 at the Statler Hotel. Judi, one of 38,000 students at Boston U., was named snow queen at the College annual trek to the New Hampshire hills for the winter sports. ★ ★ ★ Mrs. Russ Smith of the Dade County Medical Examiner's office will talk on "Perils of Child Molestation" at the 8 p.m. meeting Monday at St. Theresa School cafeteria. ★ ★ ★ Walter Thrane, 1429 Garcia Ave., gave a dinner party Saturday at his home honoring winter visitors, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Barnes, of Hobart, Ind., who were visiting their son Billy, a graduate of the University of Miami and now working for Eastern Air Lines. Others in the party were Tom Cosgrove, and his sister, Isabelle; Mrs. Lillian Cafferty and Sam Drowd, all of Pennsylvania. Mr. and Mrs. Lewter Sprague of Pittsfield, Mass., Mrs. Evelyn Riley, Niles, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Cox of Miami; the Rev. Ralph Bergstresser, pastor of St. Marks Lutheran Church; his son David and daughter, Emily. Mr. Thrane's daughter, Mrs. Perry Cobb, and Walter Burke assisted the host.

The Riviera Circle for the Florence Crittenton Home presented a $900 check Monday toward the construction of a home for unwed mothers. This group, one of nine circles working for the project, raised the amount from two fund - raising projects — a bridge and luncheon in the fall and a champagne cocktail party. Next month will be another fund raising project, a pot luck supper, with the entrance fee of a penny per pound for the husband's weight. The money from these activities, plus club dues, is presented yearly for the Crittenton Home project. The building will go on the three acres adjacent to Baptist Hospital.
