Uncle Sam Top Owner
Land interests everybody, so we thought you'd be interested in what the nation's largest land owner, Uncle Sam, has in his possession. He has slightly more than one-third of it. Here's a state-by-state breakdown as prepared by the U.S. Government:
Protestant: By Catholic
By DANIEL CALLAHAN (Reprinted from Harper's) . . . For some time now, as the nation's largest minority, Catholics have had forced upon them the common role of any rising American minority: the role of challenging the assumption that America is, by Constitutional if not Divine right, a Protestant nation. The Catholic cannot help feeling at times that he is resented solely because he has refused to stay in the place the Protestant majority has tacitly assigned him. Like the Southern Negro, the American Catholic has become "uppity" and no longer doffs his cap to his cultural masters. The Protestant, not surprisingly, has behaved like a man threatened.
BAR MITZVAH
On Saturday morning, at 10:30, Temple Judea Rabbi Podet and Cantor Brown will officiate at services and the Bar Mitzva of Jeffrey Myles Blate, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Herbert Blate, 4405 Toledo St., Coral Gables.

Youth Center director Jeannette Hunt is doing what many community leaders — anyone for that matter — ought to do. She's studying journalism at the University of Miami. Jeannette, like all of us at one time, tells how surprised she was to learn about the new techniques of news gathering. What is probably more surprising to the uninitiated is the dramatic story of how a newspaper is written and put together. Few businesses require greater coordination, effort, or skill to guarantee that your paper will get to you on time with news that is reasonably accurate. I say reasonably accurate because the "facts" that appear in a paper are not always of a newsman's making. President Kennedy is not the only one who likes to control the news—not only the timing but the slant that is given. Nuff said. —ML—
