South Miami Wants Sewer -- Can't Choose Survey Firm
South Miami Council, in the market for an engineering firm to do a sanitary sewer and natural gas feasibility survey, was at a loss last week over which of four firms to choose for the job. Each submitted propositions to the city and followed up with verbal comments at the Tuesday council meeting. READIES DECISION Following this, Council sat back to choose the most qualified firm. The four competing companies were Allen, Hosbell, Smally, Wellford & Nalveen of Sarasota and Memphis, Tenn.; Interstate Engineering Company, of Miami; Maurice Connell Assoc., of Miami, and Stieglitz Assoc., of South Miami. The nearest Council came to agreeing on a firm was the 3 to 2 vote for Connell Assoc. NOT ENOUGH VOTES But it takes a four-fifths vote of the body to appropriate money. So the choice will have to be made when other votes are made at forthcoming meetings. Council is strongly considering putting a sewage disposal system in the city limits. Natural gas installations, which have reached the city limits, may be made while the streets are being excavated for the sewage system. This is the reason for the proposed feasibility report.
SM First Baptist Banquet Friday

Westchester Fair Is April 13-15

NEW DEVELOPMENT IN ROOF COATING
The answer to the problem of preventing the growth of fungus and mildew on tile and gravel roofs has been found. The new method, called Vinylithic is ideal for sub tropical climate and has been developed after years of research by the Vinylithic Corp. Combining a heavy vinyl bonding agency with highly reflective white marble dust, blended with fungicide and waterproofing agents produces a hard, long lasting, highly reflective surface. The coating is applied after the roof has been thoroughly cleaned with pressure and the butt ends of the tiles sealed. The vinylithic material is also very good for gravel roofs.
