God's Power
THE REV. NEIL WYRICK Palmetto Presbyterian Church Are you too sensitive? Do you wait like a wafer-thin personality expecting every word spoken to be personally directed against you? Have you ever stopped to think that most people do not want to hurt your feelings any worse than you want them hurt? Do people dread to see you cross a threshold because they know they must begin to censor everything they do or say because they may hurt your feelings? Have they learned that you misinterpret every sentence and every action that is not bold overt praise? Are you driving away and have you driven away many a possible friendship because you do not really want to be treated like a friend ... actually you want to be treated like a god? Do not be a fool my friend ... be a man or woman wise enough to show understanding by having it, show wisdom by not always expecting hurts and thus receiving them when they were not meant. Stop ruining life for yourself and everybody else ... stop ... now!

Notes From C. Columbus High
By GEORGE LLOYD Correspondent On Saturday, March 25, and again on April 7, the Catholic Forensic League of Miami held its tournaments in original oratory, oratorical interpretation, girls extemporaneous, boys extemporaneous and debating, the latter being held on April 7. At the earlier date, the general forensics were held. Christopher Columbus won is part of the tournament with a score of 65 points, fighting off the other participants with last minute finalists and trophy winners. Members of the Columbus team who picked up trophys were Dennis Sullivan, Richard Aguire and Pat Gleason who are also eligible and will attend the grand tournament in Baltimore, Maryland sometime May. OTHERS ENTERED Other schools in attendance at the conference were Notre Dame with 57 points, Central Catholic with 45 points, 45 points scored by Immaculata, 43 by Saint Patricks, and Curley with 30 points. In the final phase of the tournament, the Columbus debating team took third place in the league at the conference held at Barry College on Saturday, April 8. In this event, David Gentry and Mike Broyard were eligible to participate in the grand tournament. Other members of the teams who contributed to the victory and the placing are Marc Pe-leaz, Eric Fromen, John Mahoney, George Lloyd, Richard Janik, and Richard Thayer and Marshall Liptak. Last Friday was "Gold Coast Conference Tournament Day," for Miami schools holding its annual tournaments in golf and tennis. GOLF TOURNEY In the golf tournament Columbus placed an unfortunate ninth in a field of 12 teams. However this is not considered bad for this was the first year that golf had been given some serious attention. The members of the team were Don Scurlock, Edward Bardoe, James Shea, Mike Mahoney, John Williams and Calvin Tinsley. The tennis team in its tournament placed last resultant from the absence of three of our better Columbus players. Those that participated in the meet were Eric Fromen, Mike Brick, William Strahan, William Hernandez, Walter Cobbs and John Williams. On March 27, we began our retreat which to quote Brother Benedict consists of "the three most important days of the school year." This retreat was led by Father Umberto Marino who is professor at Archbishop Stephinac High School in Westchester, New York. It has been announced that two Columbus juniors, Nat Ceglio and Pat Gleason, sponsored by the American Legion, will represent the Miami district at Boys State to be held at Tallahassee from June 18 to the 24. Boy's State as some might know is a facsimile of the Florida Legislature body only instead of the real officers presiding the government will be run by representatives from all over the state.
Nature's Secrets
The final screen tour of the present season will be presented by Tropical Audubon Society at 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, at Riverside Elementary School, SW 12th Ave. and 2nd St. William Anderson of Homestead, Fla., will show his film revealing Nature's balance which enables animals to cope with their environments in order to survive. Designs for feeding, movement, protection and reproduction in nature are well illustrated in a film in natural color.
