Business Student Receives Award
Miss Mary Jane Ames of Coral Gables High School received the 1961 award for the business student of the year from Leon Thaler, president of the Miami Chapter of the National Office Management Association, May 24, at the Dupont Plaza.
Apartment Tops Week's Building
A two-story, six-unit apartment costing $54,000 led the list of building permits issued by the City of Coral Gables last week. Seven permits, not including land values, totalled only $75,472. The new apartment is to be constructed at 29 Minorca Ave. by P. J. Gilmore; architect is Charles H. Lench and the builder Patrick J. Gilmore. Other permits went to L. Mason for a screen enclosure, $500. Karl Noah, 407 Avenue Aragon, addition, $3,200. Edward Levy, 438 Avenue Minorca, addition, $2,250. Three Bays Properties, 330 Arvida Parkway, sea wall, $11,400. Abney Cox, 3400 Alhambra Cir., pool, $3,500. Dr. N. Gillman, $622, 501 San Servando Avenue, screen enclosure, $622.
