Doors Swing Open On Remodeled Skillet Restaurant

The doors of the Skillet are open again. "I am proud of my remodeled restaurant," John Stafford, owner said. "The new interior contributes so much more to customer enjoyment and comfort." This popular restaurant located on the corners of Le Jeune Road and Giralda Avenue has recently completed a remodeling program. "One of the most attractive and popular dining spots in Coral Gables" was the reply of a customer upon seeing the new Skillet. 5 YEAR SERVICE The Skillet prides itself on having served fine food for over 5 years. "We have made many friends since I originally open the doors. Our customers enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the fine food that is served by my master chef." The Skillet is especially known for serving ham and eggs in a stainless steel skillet. OPEN 7 A.M. TO 8 P.M. The Skillet is open daily from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For your dining comfort, the Skillet features comfortable tables and chairs, counter, attractive decor, music and air conditioning. The establishment has ample parking to accommodate many cars. The regular menu and daily menu specials offer a wide range of entrees - all at popular prices. Catering to family groups, the Skillet also provides children menus. BREAKFAST The breakfast menu includes a wide selection of specially prepared dishes - all at reasonable prices. For example, this week's special includes a glass of orange juice, 2 eggs served in a skillet, grits, potatoes, toast, and a cup of coffee-48c. LUNCH Delicious luncheons are available from 65c. A complete meal includes an appetizer, sandwich or hot plate, and a refreshing glass of iced tea. The Skillet is also well known for their fine beef burgers, club sandwiches and salads. Popular during the lunch hours are soft drinks, milk shakes, and ice cream delights. DINNER The evening meals are excellent! The Chef takes personal pride in every dish that leaves his kitchen. Complete dinner from $1.25 includes an appetizer, green salad with a choice of dressing, two vegetables, coffee and desert. The evening menu is changed daily and may range from Hungarian Beef Goulash to Roast Turkey. Also included on the menu is A La Carte dinners priced from 85c. COFFEE BREAK Yes, you can be assured of being served the finest food no matter what time of day you dine at the Skillet. Many customers enjoy just a coffee break here where they meet friends and associates for a "chat." Ample parking is available a few steps from the Skillet. EATING chocolate cake and milk at The Skillet is little Frank Stafford. The restaurant at Le Jeune Rd. and Giralda Ave. is great for everything from a snack to a full course dinner. Two popular movie theaters and a legitimate theater are a few blocks away. A perfect evening can be planned by dining at the Skillet and attending the theater without moving your car.

Bring A Camera Along!

Snapshot photography is so much a part of travel these days that camera manufacturers look on tourists as their main market. For the professional and the talented amateur, travel photography often means a livelihood or part income. For the tourist, it is usually a personal record to help memory enjoy the trip long after it has ended. Here are some camera tips Bill Mason of Travel Inc. has kindly given me: Remember it's often necessary to shoot from the hip at some unexpected but colorful scene or event. This means that the better you know your camera, the more certain you will be of a good result. So practice before leaving on the journey. You need sharp focus without having constantly to re-focus the camera, which means keeping the camera set on a distance of about 10 feet, setting a small lens opening (the "f" reading) and using fast films, both color and black and white. Also before you leave, check the camera as you would an automobile; the shutter, the film winder, the range-finder, the light meter. Take with you lens tissues and lens brush, because you'll meet all kinds of conditions "on the road" that you don't get at home. Buy some thin layers of foam rubber to wrap your equipment, and hold the bundle together with rubber bands, so that the vibration, especially in aircraft, doesn't cause disorder in camera and light meter. Keep gadgetry down. Take a haze filter and a graduated yellow filter for black and white film. The graduated yellow filter - yellow at top to clear at the bottom - can be left on your camera for almost all shots to give depth and contrast. For color film, a sky-light filter eliminates haze. Remember that although you can buy film almost anywhere, it is often very expensive outside the United States, it would be as well to take your needs with you. If you are traveling for more than a month, it is advisable to air-mail color film back to America for processing.

TRAVEL REPORTER By Bill Mason

QUESTION: What type of wardrobe would I need for a visit to Egypt and the Middle East? ANSWER: Basically we would suggest tropical clothing, though a light wrap would be a good idea for evening - and don't forget comfortable walking shoes for inspecting the pyramids and a pair of slacks in case you want to ride a camel.
