Old-fashioned witches and ghosts will decorate the ballroom of the Country Club of Coral Gables for its annual Halloween party Saturday night. The decor will be the work of the Women's Executive Board of the club, of which Mrs. Harrison Faith is president. Mr. Faith will be master of ceremonies. Buffet dinner will begin at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. with dancing following. A grand march with judging of prize-winning costumes will also be a feature of the party ... The Junior High group will enjoy their Halloween dance from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, with Mrs. Henry Noyer, chairman, and her committee in charge. The youngsters, 9-10-11 years old, will have a ghosts and goblins party from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. Jack Heath and Mrs. Hall Langstroth are chairmen. * * * BRIDE-ELECT FETED Parties have been dotting the calendar of Betty Vehon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Vehon of 811 Parmo Ave., since the announcement of her wedding date to Stephan Cohan of Miami Shores. Mrs. Vehon invited some 50 friends in for a party which turned out to be a miscellaneous shower. Also entertaining for Betty were cousins of her mother, Mrs. Curtis Murphy, and Mrs. Murphy's daughter-in-law, Mrs. William Murphy, and cousin, Mrs. Nathan Turner. This week, Marilyn Leichtman, who will be one of Betty's attendants, entertained at a dinner party at the Aloha Restaurant. * * * THEY SHARE THE SAME BIRTHDATE Carleton Tweed of Coral Gables and Ike Eisenhower of White House, Washington, D. C., have something in common. They both celebrate Oct. 14 as their birthdays. This year the date fell on Friday, and Suzanne, Carleton's wife, planned a surprise birthday dinner for 50 with dancing afterwards in the Florida room with an orchestra playing. Guests were drawn from Suzanne's two music clubs, the 8 P.M. and the Coral Gables, and Carleton's fishing club—Rod and Reel. Incidentally, the president and Carleton have exchanged cards and Carleton proudly displays his — framed. * * * Oct. 9 bears a charm in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis E. Haley of 940 Cotorro Ave. Mrs. Haley says that on that Sunday (the 9th), their daughter, Mary (Mrs. Robert J.) Le Files, gave birth to a girl and that makes the fourth grandchild born on Oct 9 for the Haley's four married daughters and sons. The newest granddaughter has been named Ann Lynn, and she weighed in at 7 lbs., 10 ozs. (a lady's weight) at Doctors' Hospital. All of Ann Lynn's cousins and Ann Lynn may start a new fashion — collective birthday parties. They are close in age bracket too. * * * HAVE YOU HEARD THIS ONE When father and son reached the top of the stair (a nightly procedure) the youngster said: "What did you bring that book that I don't like to be read to out of up for?", a sentence ending in five prepositions, count 'em.
