Donald Vizzas Leave For Honeymoon In Caribbean
Off on a Caribbean honeymoon are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Roger Vizza, following their Saturday wedding at the Church of the Little Flower. The bride, the former Saundra Jean Sirak, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph J. Sirak of 1236 Sevilla Ave. The bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Vizza of Belle Vernon, Pa. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a bridal gown of Chantilly lace and nylon tulle. The bodice was designed with scoop neckline and bi[TEXT LOST] sleeves of the lace trimmed in iridescent sequins and pearls. The bouffant tulle skirt fell into a sweep train. Her pure silk illusion veil fell from a crown of orange blossoms and tulle leaves. She carried a cascade of Lily of the Valley with white orchids. Miss Mary Ann Dion was m[TEXT LOST] of honor. Bridesmaids were Janet Boswell, Carolyn Cook, Mrs. Vincent Vizza and Mrs. Carl W. Enxing. The honor maid was in iridescent green taffeta. The bridesmaids wore antique gold. Their ensembles were identical with ballerina length skirts, molded bodice, Dior length sleeves and crushed velvet cummerbund. They wore matching headpieces and carried cascade bouquets of yellow and bronze chrysanthemums. MRS. DONALD R. VIZZA The bride's cousin, Debbie Filer, was flower girl. Her green iridescent gown complimented the maid-of-honor's gown. She carried a basket of yellow mums. Vincent Vizza was best man. Ushers were David Light, R. Augustine Perry Jr., Robert Bonday, Ray Polizzi, Austin Porfiri and Joseph J. Sirak Jr. Tommy Sirak, brother of the bride, was ring bearer. Reception Held The Rev. Peter Reilly, pastor of the church, officiated at the 11 a.m. nuptial mass. The reception followed in the Little Flower auditorium. For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Sirak wore pink eyelet organza over taffeta with matching coat and accessories and an orchid corsage. The groom's mother was in blue organza over taffeta accented with lace. Her accessories matched and she wore an orchid corsage. Among out-of-town guests were Mrs. Antonio Domenico of Philadelphia; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Favo and Miss Catherine Favo of Pittsburgh; Mrs. Sam Rizzuto and Mrs. Vincent Vizza of Monessen, Pa. Mrs. Joseph Vizza of Belle Vernon, Pa., and Stephan Sirak, grandfather of the bride, from New Castle, Pa. Also Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Schmitz of West Palm Beach. The bride is a graduate of St. Theresa's Parochial School and Coral Gables High School. The groom was graduated from Belle Vernon High School and the University of Miami's School of Architectural Engineering. He is associated with the architectural department of the General Development Co. of Miami. Future home of the couple will be in Coral Gables at 411 Santander.
Homemakers' Annual Meeting Set Nov. 12
District IX of the Florida Association of the Future Homemakers of America, will hold their annual meeting, Saturday, Nov. 12. The meeting whose theme is "Home: The Hub of Good Citizenship," will be at the Southwest Miami High, 8855 SW 50th Ter. Sue Stricklin, state vice president of program work, will preside over the meeting which over 700 junior and senior high school girls are expected to attend. Girls will be representing seven counties from district nine: Broward, Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, Collier, Hendry and Glades. Among the special guests will be Miss Pauline Willoughby, assistant supervisor of homemaking education, State Department of Home Economics Education, and Mrs. Martha Henderson, Dade County coordinator of homemaking education. A discussion on ways to improve local chapters, degree programs, and how to become an Honor Roll Chapter will be h[TEXT LOST]. Delegates for state offices from the various districts will also be selected. Serving as adviser for the hostess chapter at Southwest will be Mrs. Ruth Bootes. Advisers for the co-hostess chapter, West Miami Junior High, are Mrs. Julia Freeman and Mrs. Marolyn Whitehead.
Churchwomen Will Be Fashion Models
A fashion show-luncheon is being planned by the Women's Fellowship of Christ Congregational Church, 14920 Ludlam Road, near King's Bay, for Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Suniland Banquet hall. Holiday and winter fashions will be shown. Mrs. Staples Pierce and Mrs. Robert Keyser are the coordinators. Styles will be modeled by the following members of the Fellowship: Mrs. Gordon Reynolds, Mrs. Carolyn Reed, Mrs. Philip Braden, Mrs. Douglas Cooper, Mrs. Marion Megathlin, Mrs. Bryan Donaldson and the Misses Susan Cameron and Diane Keyser. Tickets may be obtained by contacting the ticket chairman, Mrs. James Haynes, at CE 5-4307. The donation is $2. Proceeds will benefit the church building fund. A chapel will be built on the six acres of church property on Ludlam Road adjacent to the Cutler Cove School sometime next year. Preliminary plans for the chapel, submitted by Leroy K. Albert, were approved by the congregation at a meeting Sunday evening. Rev. T. N. Tiemeyer is pastor.
Franklins Have Second Daughter
Lt. Col. and Mrs. A. E. Franklin of "Idealistic-By-the-Sea," 100 miles from Cape Canaveral, are announcing the birth of their second daughter, Melanie, on Aug. 13. Melanie's sister, Melissa, is 21⁄2 years old. Mrs. Franklin, the former Patsy McCarthy, is the daughter of the James McCarthy's of Coral Gables. Col. Franklin is PAD coordinator at the Cape.
DAR Chapter Resumes Meetings
The first fall meeting of the Cape Florida Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was held at the home of Mrs. Robert B. Cole, 1124 Valencia Ave., on Oct. 18 at 2 p.m. Mrs. Ellen H. Miller, a chapter member, spoke on "Oddities in Conservation". Mrs. Miller has been speaking before garden clubs for eight years. Her interest in gardening led to her concern about conservation. Her topic included the subject of salt water intrusion in Dade County and some of the amazing laws that are on the statute books throughout the country in regard to conservation. The Regent, Mrs. Edward M. Grout, presided.
Cook Out Will Benefit Hospital
First benefit party planned by the South Dade Chapter, National Children's Cardiac Hospital, will be a Western Cookout beginning at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Pine Ridge Ranch, 9940 SW 117th Ave. Mrs. Evelyn Smith appointed president (until an election is held) of the new organization said the new hospital will be built on some of the original Sewell property adjacent to Jackson Memorial Hospital. The hospital is presently located at 4250 W. Flagler, corner of Le Jeune. Mrs. Sandy Salzman, MO 1-7858, may be contacted for tickets and information.
Auxiliary Will Play Cards Tuesday
Members, guests and patrons are invited to attend a card party at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Coral Gables Veterans Hospital. Sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary, Coral Gables Post 98, American Legion. The auxiliary is providing homemade cookies and punch for refreshments, according to Mrs. Lillian Kasper, chairman. Mrs. Rose Cayaves is president.
