Newlyweds Leave On Trip To Nassau
Off on a Honeymoon trip to Nassau are Mr. and Mrs. David L. Willis, whose wedding took place Saturday at the First Methodist Church of Coral Gables. The bride is the former Jean Hanson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell R. Vance of 7390 SW 38th St. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George G. Willis of 8261 SW 33rd Ter. Bride's Gown Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length white satin sheath with full overskirt, falling gracefully in cocktail length. The low cut molded bodice had bracelet length sleeves. Her many-tiered short veil of imported silk illusion fell from a Dior bow of the satin. She carried a bouquet of white stephanotis and Phalaenopis orchids. Mrs. John D. Cameron of Miami, paternal aunt of the bride, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Joanne Bampfield of West Palm Beach and Miss Christa Engelage of Miami Beach. They wore identical gowns made sheath style in Sapphire blue pure silk faille, with scoop neckline and bracelet length sleeves. Matching petal bands and tiny nose veils completed their ensembles. They carried Strelitzia (Bird of Paradise) bouquets. George G. Willis, the groom's father, was best man. Ushers were Robert T. Hornsby, Richard G. Gutteridge and Robert A. Valois, all of Miami. Candlelight Service Dr. Lewis N. Head officiated at the 8 p.m. double ring candlelight service. The reception followed in the church's reception hall. The bride's mother wore a French lime silk peau de soie made tunic style with lace motifs and a matching veil headpiece. Her flowers were Cymbidium orchids. The bridegroom's mother wore a pink pure silk embroidered sheath gown. Her accessories matched, and her corsage was Phalaenopis orchids. The bride was graduated from Coral Gables High School and Mt. Sinai Hospital's School of Practical Nursing. The bridegroom was graduated from Coral Gables High School and attended the University of Miami. He is presently a contact man with the Florida Power and Light Company in customer's service. Among the pre-nuptial parties given for the bride were two showers and a shower given by Mrs. Jean Dentster, a nurse associate. Hosts for the rehearsal dinner were Mr. and Mrs. George G. Mrs. Sperow Will Open Club's Season
Mrs. Byron Sperow, 1422 Mendavia, president of the Florida Federation of Music Clubs, will be the speaker today, when the South Miami Music Club presents its first program meeting of the season at University Christian Church, 6720 Sunset I South Miami. Mrs. C. R. Brand, club president, will open the meeting at 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Pat Dierieux is hostess. Refreshments will follow the meeting. Also featured on the program will be members of the club as guest soloists, Lucy Morro, violinist; Sally Jamison, soprano; Doris Albrecht, organist; and The Poinciana Trio with Elsie Mowbray, Anna Louise Riggs and Marie Casani, participating.
Local Auxiliary Members Attend Legion Event
Members of Coral Gables Unit 98 and Lindley De Garmo Unit 70, Coconut Grove, are attending the Auxiliary National Convention this week in Miami Beach in connection with the annual National Convention of the American Legion. The convention opened Saturday and will close today. Mrs. Larry N. Duncan Sr., Mrs. George D. Sprague, Mrs. M. L. Montgomery, Mrs. Joseph Wink, Mrs. Hardee Priest and Mrs. D. Sugden are members of Lindley de Garmo attending the festivities. From the Coral Gables unit are Mrs. J. C. Malone, Mrs. Tyler Bliss, Mrs. Ralph Peckham and Mrs. Marge Lamarcoux. Approximately 3500 delegates and alternates from the United States and Territories were expected to attend.
Soroptimists To Sell Tickets
Mrs. Bernard E. Smyers, 1428 Alegriano, was hostess Saturday at a 6 o'clock cocktail party. Guests were fellow members of the Soroptimists Club of Coral Gables invited to buy and sell tickets for the annual Aunt Jemima pancake dinner, which this year will take place Nov. 12 at the Coral Gables Woman's Club. Mrs. Smyers is chairman of the South Florida Cleft Palate Clinic, the main project of the Soroptimists.

Rain Doesn't Discourage Golfers
It poured rain, but 21 brave golfing fans, members of the Country Club of Coral Gables Women's Golf Association, turned out for the Friday morning rounds. The tournament was least fairway shots. Mrs. Alfred Mathers won in Class A with 27; Mrs. Albert Anderson was second with 29. In Class B, Mrs. Josie Godwin scored 36 to win first. Mrs. Glenn Wood was second with 37 and Mrs. Harry Jasper shot a 39 to come in third.
Kendall Garden Club
members and guests enjoyed a covered dish luncheon and swim party Sept. 21, at the home of Mrs. C. E. Lawrence, 7130 Hardee Dr., with Mrs. E. R. Henry as co-hostess. Speaker was Mrs. Charles E. McWethy, who spoke on "Color Effects."
Cancer Unit Will Benefit
The University of Miami's Cancer Research Department will benefit from the proceeds of a fashion show luncheon, the Granada Chapter, Woman's Cancer Association of the University, will give Thursday, Oct. 27 at the Riviera Country Club. Mrs. Melvin J. Robinson is general chairman of the show which is entitled "Do's and Don'ts" of fashion. Mrs. John Fitzsimmons is fashion director and Mrs. Samuel Dryer is in charge of reservations. Tickets are limited. Hostesses will be members of the Granada Chapter.
Hospital Auxiliary Will Hear Review
A coffee and book review sponsored by the South Miami Hospital Auxiliary will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at the Wesley Foundation Building, University of Miami. Members and guests will be served coffee at 10 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Frank Kerdyk will present a review, "Trustee from the Tool Room," by Nevil Shute. Mrs. Henry Bryant is president of the auxiliary and Mrs. Franklin J. Evans is chairman, book review.
