Gables Tickets Are Fewer, But Income Up
Although there were 374 fewer cases in Soral Gables' Metro Court last month, the city made considerably moe in reimbursements to the city. According to Metro Court records, there were 1756 cases filed last month in the court compared to 1382 the previous month. But the records add that Coral Gables received $5877 in reimbursements last month compared to $5410 the previous month. Under Metro's Charter, two-thirds of all fines, forfeitures and costs collected revert back to a city from which the funds came. In South Miami, last month, there were 392 cases compared to 655 cases the previous month. Reimbursements to the city last month totaled $2,559 compared to $3069 for August. There were a total of 24,096 cases filed during September compared to 29,202 filed during August in all of Dade County. These are moving non-mandatory, moving mandatory and parking summons cases. Throughout the county there was a total of $126,259 taken in. Of that amount, $84,172 went for reimbursements.
Alligator Shot At Tahiti Beach
A state wildlife officer turned alligator wrestler in Coral Gables the morning of Oct. 12 when a 6-foot 'gator he shot in the waters off Tahiti Beach came to life as he swam out and dragged the carcass ashore. Fortunately for Dave Bahman, the wildlife man, the reptile had lost enthusiasm for combat. Bahman loaded the 'gator into his vehicle and took it away to be separated from its hide. Paul U. Gerber, of Tahiti Beach, reported seeing the 'gator to Gables police shortly after 9:30 a.m. It was 1:20 p.m. when Bahman came to de-gator the beach.
Lt. Frank Carder Completes Training
Army 2nd Lt. Frank C. Carder Jr., 24, has completed his six months active military training at Fort Eustis, Va. Carder, son of Mrs. Mary H. Carder, 433 Almeria, now lives with his wife, Janice, in Rock Islande, Ill. Under the Reserve Forces program Carder completed the basic course at Transportation School, and is now assigned to the XI U.S. Army Corps, an Army Reserve unit in St. Louis. Lt. Carder was graduated from Purdue University in 1958 and Indiana University in 1960.
