DEDICATION OF THE CHAPEL WING of the University Baptist Church at left will attract numerous church dignitaries to Coral Gables this weekend. The ceremonies will be held on New Year's Day. A Homecoming will also be a highlight of the activities.
The Rev. James Daughtry To Be Ordained Thursday
The Right Rev. Henry I. Louttit, DD, Bishop of South Florida, will celebrate the Solemn Pontifical Eucharist of Ordination in St. Philip's Church, Coral Gables, Thursday, Dec. 29, the Feast of St. Thomas of Canterbury at 10 a.m. Sacred Order Of Priests At that time, he will ordain The Rev. James R. Daughtry to the Sacred Order of Priests. A distinguished priest, the Rev. W. T. St. John Brown, rector of St. Luke's Church, Evanston, Ill., will preach the Ordination sermon. Father Daughtry, who has served as Curate in St. Philip's parish since last June, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert E. Daughtry, 1047 Asturia Ave. Father Daughtry attended the University of Miami for two years before completing his university work at Georgetown University in Washington, D. C. After serving three years as a pilot in the United States Air Force, he entered the General Theological Seminary in New York from which he was graduated last May. Other Clergy Other clergy who will participate in the Ordination Service are the Rev. George L. Gurney, assistant at St. Philip's Church, who will read the preface to the Ordinal; the Rev. John G. Shir-ley, rector of St. Philip's Church, who will present the Deacon for Ordination; the Rev. Tillman B. Williams, Christ the King Church, Azalea Park, Fla., will sing the Litany; the Rev. Robert G. Tharp, Church of the Good Shepherd, Maitland, Fla., will be Deacon of the Mass; the Rev. Frank S. Cerveny, Church of the Resurrection, Biscayne Park, will be Sub-Deacon; the Rev. David C. Butts, III is in charge of ceremonies and will be Assistant Priest; the Rev. George R. Taylor, St. Stephen's Church and the Rev. George McCormick, Jr., Trinity Church, Miami, will be assistant Deacons to the Bishop. Father Daughtry will celebrate his first sung Eucharist on Jan. 1, the Feast of Circumcision, at the 9:15 a.m. service.

Homecoming And Open House Baptist Church To Dedicate Wing
University Baptist Church will open the New Year with two identical dedication services, Homecoming and Open House, on Sunday. The $350,000 Chapel Wing of the church, for which the groundbreaking service was held last New Year's Eve, will be dedicated at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services. Dr. J. Ollie Edmunds, president of the Florida Baptist Convention and president of Stetson University, will give the dedicatory address. The first Minister, the Rev. - Frank A. Keene, who led in the constituting of church, will give the dedicatory prayer. Those Participating Participating in the services will be the Rev. Morris Elliott, representing the Miami Baptist Association, the Rev. Gent Co-fer, minister to youth; Dr. Joe Hall, chairman of the building committee; Ira C. Haycock, chairman of the Board of Trustees; Cecil Harper, minister of music and Reverend Coleman. The minister, Dr. T. Rupert Coleman, invites all former members of the church as well as friends to share in the all day program. The day will feature an old fashioned country-style "dinner on the ground" fellowship from 12:30 to 1:30. This will be followed by an open house, to give the general public from 2 to 5 the opportunity of viewing the building. Refreshments and souvenirs will be presented to all visitors. 13 Departments The building, designed by O. K. Houston Jr., architect, and built by Carlson Construction Co., provides 13 departments with sixty-eight separate rooms for educational, social, and worship purposes. One of the features of the new wing is the dining room, with a kitchen equipped by Bill Woodward Equipment Co., which can serve 450 people at tables. The addition provides a chapel, seating 160 persons, which is a modified reproduction of the church's sanctuary The library, included in the wing, is modernly equipped for 4000 volumes. The suite of offices provides a minister's study, and an office for the minister of education, minister of music, minister to youth, receptionist, finance secretary and minister's secretary, as well as a work room for secretarial mechanical equipment. The church owns the square bound by Riviera, Segovia, Anastasia and Cardena Streets. The new facilities include 5500 foot recreation patio south of the new Chapel Wing.
Jackie Liberman Is Bar Mitzvah On Saturday
Jackie, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Liberman, 2351 SW 31st Ave., will be Bar Mitzvah on Saturday morning, Dec. 31, at the Israelite Center. Rabbi Morton Malavsky will officiate and Cantor Louis Cohen will render the liturgy. Jackie is a student of the Israelite Center Religious School and also one of the choir boys. He is a student at Silver Bluffs Elementary School. Out of town guests will be Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Mitchell and family from Chicago, and Mrs. Celia Finkel from Worcester, Mass. A Kiddush will follow the religious ceremony in the Social Hall. On Sunday there will be a double celebration at the Riviera Caterers. Besides the reception for Jackie, Mr. and Mrs. Liberman will announce the engagement of their daughter, Eva, to Herbert Finkel, son of Mrs Celia Finkel of Worcester, Mass., and Meyer Finkel of Miami. Herbert Finkel is stationed at the Homestead Air Base. Eva is confirmand of the Israelite Center Religious School.

Nine Students Named To UM Honorary
Nine University of Miami students from the southwest area have been initiated into Phi Kappa Phi, the highest national academic honorary. Seven other students from outside the area also have been awarded membership. The students honored from Coral Gables are Hans Von Baeyer, 1335 Castile; Jacqueline Kamp Simms, 1534 Ancona; Jan Tellander, 4130 Malaga. Area students are Richard N. Maisel, 2034 SW 13th St.; Billee P. Pearce, 1745 SW 14th Ave.; Estelle J. Jacobs, 4280 SW 13th St.; Judith Ann Phelps, 2830 Jefferson St.; Stephen A. Koehl, 3400 SW 72nd Ave.; Ursula Metzger, 1359 SW 22nd Ter. Dr. William B. Munson, professor of history, spoke at the initiation banquet in the Student Union cafeteria. Phi Kappa Phi recognizes academic excellence in all fields. It is equivalent to Phi Beta Kappa, which honors students from the arts and sciences only.

Choir Will Repeat Program
On Friday, Dec. 30, at 8:15 p.m., the Adult Choir of Temple Beth Am will repeat the Chanukah program which it presented on Sunday, Dec. 18, at the Temple. Soloists include Lenore Goldstein, Iris Rosen, Bernice Anapol, Anne Aibel. Frances Sanes will do the candle blessing. Other members of the choir are Grace Salem, Pearl Segal, Esther Berman, Dena Byer, Rose Ashbes, Jean Probinsky, Rita Abbott, Lew Gillis, George Kramer, Herman Isis, Wilfred Rose and Stan Mayersohn. Mrs. Selma Baumgard is the director. The Rabbi's sermon will be "Let the Old Year Die." Douglas Weiss, son of Mr. and Mrs. Seymour Weiss, will be Bar Mitzvah Saturday, Dec. 31.
B'nai B'rith Honors Hechler
William Hechler, of 6535 SW 27th St., is one of two Miami area residents who have each recruited 51 members for B'nai B'rith and have been named among the top five winners in the Jewish service organization's national membership campaign contest. Hechler, of the Coral Gables Lodge, and Milton Kahn, of the Miami Beach Lodge, finished together in the nation-wide contest. Hechler is first vice-president of his lodge and the chairman of its sports committee. He has also been active in setting up a B'nai B'rith bowling league.
