News Of The PTA Three Teachers Will Give Demonstrations

By EUNICE TALL MO 1-2294 Three teachers at Banyan Elementary School will demonstrate different teaching techniques used to teach various subjects to their classes at the Banyan Elementary School PTA meeting Jan. 10. The meeting will be held at 8 p.m. in the cafetorium. Mrs. Joan Gray, fourth grade teacher, will demonstrate techniques used in teaching conversational Spanish. M[?] Delbert Vosburg, fifth grade teacher, will briefly speak on the importance of year by year musical instruction. With the use of his fifth grade class he will demonstrate techniques that he now uses. A demonstration of the difficulties and problems that the first grade student encounters wh[?] learning to read will be given by Mrs. Elaine Weinberger, first grade teacher. Refreshments will be served. Everglades Elementary Dr. Ben J. Sheppard, newly appointed Juvenile Judge of Metro Court, will be the guest speaker at the January PTA meeting of Everglades Elementary School. The meeting will be hel Jan. 10, 8 p.m., in the school cafetorium. The topic of his address will not be known until the meeting. Refreshments will be served. Ludlam Elementary Guest speaker Juvenile Judge William R. Culbreath will address the PTA membership of Ludlam Elementary School, Jan. 10, 8 p.m., in the school cafeteria. The topic of his address will be "The Child and Problems of Youth." The school is following a series of programs this year concerning "The Child."

Coral Reef Y[a]cht Club Plans Gala

The Coral Reef Yacht Club, 2484 So. Bayshore Dr., is setting the stage for a gala time New Year's Eve. Festivities will begin at about 9 o'clock for 300 members and their guests. The ballroom of the club will be decorated in blush pink and si[?], and the lovely first lady of the club's Commodore, John C. Schutt, will be wearing a matching ball gown in pink and silver. New members of the club will be guests of Commodore Schutt at cocktails from 9 to 10 p.m. in the Commodore's Room. Also assisting will be vice C[?]modore Wilton L. Adams and Rear Commodore Herbert W. Virgin Jr. A champagne breakfast will close the festivities.

Women To See 'Wizard Of Oz'

Members of the Coral Gables Junior Woman's Club have a t[?]re party planned for today's matinee at Studio M. The play is "The Wizard of Oz." In addition, there will be an evening performance at 8:30 of the classic at the Playhouse, 209 Bird Rd. Ruth Fofeman is director.

Fontainebleau Hotel Is Wedding Scene

MRS. FRED LEROY WEISSEL Mr. and Mrs. Bernard A. Sterling, 945 Alfonso Ave., announce the marriage of their daughter, Judith Ann, to Fred Leroy Weissel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Weissel, 1432 Trillo Ave. The wedding took place at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, at the Fontainebleau Hotel, Miami Beach, with Rabbi Morris Skop officiating. Handsome Gown For her wedding, the bride wore a handsome bridal gown of candlelight satin made with floor length bell skirt caught at the back with three large satin roses, the fullness terminating in a chapel train. The fitted bodice was designed with scoop neckline and three quarter sleeves of imported Alencon lace enhanced with seed pearls. Her volumincus French imported illusion veil fell from a matching satin cap. She carried a bouquet of white orchids. Mrs. Stanley Sterling, sister-in-law of the bride, was matron of honor. Other attendants were Mrs. Robert Sterling and Mrs. William Weissel, sister-in-law of the groom. They wore identical gowns of ivory taffeta made sheath fashion with full overskirts and rosettes of the ivory satin as back interest. Ivory satin pill boxes with matching roses of the satin completed their ensembles. William Weissel, brother of the groom, was best man. Ushers were Robert Sterling, Stanley Sterling, Martin Goodman and Howard Scharlin. Reception Held The reception followed the ceremony and was held in the Fontainebleau. The bride was graduated from the University of Florida with a BA degree in education. She was a member of Alpha Epsilon Phi social sorority. She also served as rush chairman on the University of Florida Panhellenic Council. She is presently a teacher at Cutler Ridge Elementary School. The groom is a graduate of Temple University, Philadelphia, Pa. He is an interior decorator and a board member of the National Society of Interior Design. After a honeymoon in New York City, the couple will reside at 545 Bird Rd.

Jewish Women To Celebrate Music Month

Sunset Division of the National Council of Jewish Women will meet at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hillel House, University of Miami campus. Mrs. Harold Retskin, 8515 SW 43rd Ter., talented musician, will be at the piano for the original musicale "Three Faces of Jews," written by Mrs. Irving Goldman and produced by Mrs. Meyer Brilliant, both of South Miami. All local divisions of the NCJW will meet on Wednesday to celebrate Jewish Music Month. Biscayne Division will hold a Petite Brunch at the Ray Renuart Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, 41 Valencia Ave.

Petersens Back From Annual Jamaica Trip

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin E. Petersen, 8140 SW 132nd St., have more fun than most tourists on their annual trips to Jamaica, B.W.I. Just returned from the Manor House, Constant Springs, Kingston, where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Derak Franklyn, they greeted all their old friends and did the usual "tourist" trips. Dorian Greaves, assistant Inspector of Police in Jamaica, and Mrs. Greaves, took Mr. and Mrs. Petersen up Strawberry Hill one day for tea. There at the Strawberry Hill Hotel, they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. John de Casta. Guest of honor one day at the Jamacia Woman's Club, Mary was presented a pin as a non-resident member by the president of the club.

He is on the editorial staff of the magazine SEA FRONTIERS. Captain Long is also a civilian consultant in the executive office of the Secretary of the Navy, associated with Captain Walter Karig in the preparation of BATTLE REPORT, a series of narrative histories of the U.
