We're In Good Financial Shape
Coral Gables finances are in great shape, City Manager L. W. Robinson Jr. reports in a six-month financial statement. The total budgeted income to Dec. 31, 1960, was 2.5 percent more than had been allocated, Robinson said. The ad valorem tax roll gain was $24,749. Sale of traffic control equipment to Metro brought $11,862 and building and zoning permits were $9735 above the same period in 1959. Utilities services taxes also picked up $19,492 ahead of the allocated amount. Losses were incurred in the operation of the Municipal Court, auto inspections and from golf. A deficit of $56,178 in the Working Capital Fund was expected to be made up by the end of the fiscal year.

Fein, who had made several unsuccessful attempts before the Coral Gables Board of Architects, finally got approval on the design at the Jan. 25 meeting of the board. The hotel plan must go before the Planning Board and City Commission before it can become reality.
