The Metro Commission voted 8-1 Tuesday, Sept. 7, to reconsider a plan to widen a strip of 117th Avenue which runs in front of Miami Heights Elementary School in South Dade. The commission will reconsider the proposal, pending a public hearing to be held in the Miami Heights community. A group of Miami Heights homeowners, concerned about the safety of their school age children, had originally requested a cul-de-sac in front of the school at 17661 SW 117th Ave.
