The Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce encourages you to “Support the Hurricanes”

As you have shopped in the stores of The City Beautiful during the last few days, you've probably noticed the green and orange and white colors of The University of Miami Hurricanes. It's all part of an exciting program sponsored by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce encouraging the community to support the Miami football team. The entire community has gotten involved. The City of Coral Gables, local theaters, the university, and hundreds of local businesses have announced their support.

September 13 - September 18 “Support the Hurricanes Week” in Coral Gables

At the Chamber's monthly breakfast held on August 26, Coral Gables Vice Mayor Al Jacobson presented a city proclamation, naming the week of September 13 as Support the Miami Hurricanes Week. UM president Dr. Henry King Stanford, Athletic Director Pete Elliott and head football coach Carl Selmer addressed a large group of Coral Gables businessmen and Chamber members. The stage had been set for the opening game against Florida State University.

Football Pep Rally

A giant, old-fashioned football pep rally honoring the University of Miami Hurricanes football team will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday, September 16, at University Park, adjacent to the Coral Gables Youth Center, 400 Anastasia Avenue. Football Fun Night

A "Support the Hurricanes" Football Fun Night, including dinner at the University Inn, bus rides to the University of Miami vs. Florida State game at the Orange Bowl, and an after-game party, is being sponsored by the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. The evening, at the cost of $20 per couple excluding game tickets, will begin at 6 p.m. with the dinner at the University Inn, 1390 S. Dixie Highway. Free parking will be provided
