Couple

From Page 1 - has meant as much to me as it has to her," Othur said. The love affair first started when Letitia, who will be 57 on her wedding day, came back to the home after an extended leave of absence. Although she had worked there for two years and Othur had lived at the home for 15 months, neither had noticed the other before. "I first took notice of her when she came back from leave and brought her father to the home, where he spent the last few days of his life. "That's when I offered her a job as my private aid," Othur said. "She left for several days after her father died, but I knew she would be a back. "I had a psychic reading a couple of days before she returned and I saw that something very important was going to happen to both of us," said the retired school teacher and self-proclaimed psychic. "Of course I knew she would say yes to my offer, but she didn't have any knowledge of it," he said. Letitia did come back to check on Othur's job offer. After some discussion, they both decided the only way for him to have a private aide was if he moved out of the nursing home. And the only way he would be able to move out of the nursing home, they concluded, would be if they could get married. "I needed time to think it over," said Letitia. "I was suppose to be gone for two months, but I came back in three weeks," she said. "Mr. New pressed me for a date and I couldn't think of another day but my birthday," she said. "That's why we are getting married Sept. 17. Reverend Woodrow Hastings of Plymouth Congregational Church in Coconut Grove will perform the ceremony in the landscaped indoor patio of the nursing home. Letitia's three sons will attend the wedding, as will Othur's two sons and five grandchildren.
