Cub Scouts Jere N. Chait of 10121 Kendale Blvd., has been appointed Council Vice President for Cub Scouting. A partner in the law firm of Canner and Chait, he is a recipient of the Silver Beaver, Scouting's highest honor given to the go volunteer. Tiger band Janice L. Slusser of Coral Gables was chosen to play iboe and bells with Louisiana State's Golden Band from Tiger-land. Janice, a student at LSU, will travel with the band to football games, where they will perform during half time. Real estate Mrs. Lois K. Wells, a former teacher at Palmetto High School, is now associated with Pyms-Suchman Real Estate Co., 9205 S. Dixie Hwy. Summer at Sea Two South Dade midshipmen have participated in the Navel Academy's "Summer at Sea" program. Midshipmen William I. Peters IV, son of Susan Y. Coburn of 6611 SW 75th Terr., gained experience in seamanship aboard the USS Grasp in the Mediterranean. Midshipman Michael D. Pedersen, son of retired Air Force Lt. Col. and Mrs. Myron E. Pedersen, of 7501 SW 137th St., was aboard the guided missile frigate USS J. Furer, in the Western Atlantic. Coast Guard Ensign James W. Stark, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Stark of Southwest Miami, has completed an Alaskan fisheries patrol as a crewmember aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Jarvis. The three month patrol was conducted in the Gulf of Alaska to enforce international treaties and U.S. laws concerning fishing in territorial waters. Stark is a 1976 graduate of the Coast Guard Academy, where he received a bachelor of science degree.
