Dope, pills, group sex charges leveled against suspended cops | Monday hearing may bring charges to the forefront

By GARY GIBBS News Editor There's more than charges of sex with a 15-year-old girl at the center of controversy surrounding at least two of four suspended Coral Gables police officers. There are also allegations of sex with two sisters, both under 21, marijuana, pills, drinking on duty and group sex. In letters from Coral Gables City Manager J. Martin Gainer to the attorney representing two of the suspended officers — Richard Fisher and Donald Wardy — Gainer alleges that the two policemen had sexual relations with sisters Gina and Geri Huxoll of Coral Gables, and supplied and condoned the use of marijuana and pills by the sisters. Gainer also claims that Wardy and Fisher, on at least one occasion, used the home of fellow suspended officer James Rossey to engage in sexual relations with the sisters. Rossey, Gainer contends, was present at the time, though his wife was out of town. Wardy and Fisher are also married. Gainer's letters to attorney James F. Gilbride also contend that Wardy while in uniform and on duty had, "on several occasions, consumed alcoholic beverages at the Pizza Hut, 475 South Dixie Highway." Most of the incidents cited by Gainer are said to have taken place while Wardy and Fisher were on duty. Sites where sexual relations are alleged to have See CHARGES, Page 2

SD man invents surrogate cigaret

By KAY SEVERINSEN Staff Writer If you have always said you couldn't quit smoking because it gives you something to do with your hands, you had better think of another excuse — quick. Phillip Brown, of 11825 SW 186th St., has invented a kit that will help former smokers get through that crucial early stage of breaking the habit. The main feature of the kit is something Brown aptly describes as a "thing." It is palm-sized, pleasant to hold, and should help replace the tactile activity many people enjoy when smoking. It will probably be plastic, about two inches long and have a thumbsized depression. Brown first got the idea when he himself quit smoking in 1962. "I had a lot of trouble relaxing," he said. "It was more a habit of doing something than wanting the nicotine." He first tested his idea on a boss he worked for several years ago. "He was a real nervous guy. See GIVES, Page 2
