Coral Gables duo teams to help Viets
Evelyn W. Speck and her interpreter and secretary, Victor N. Srinivansan, have teamed up to provide social services and counseling to all Vietnamese and other Indo-Chinese refugees needing assistance. The goal of the Vietnamese Refugee Services, 1205 Sunset Dr., is to help the refugees move toward self-sufficiency and to make the path to adjustment a little smoother. Church World Services provide the grant for administering and operating this Christian Community Service Agency program that began in July. The Coral Gables office handles clients from Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Mrs. Speck, who has a master's degree in social work and speaks French fluently, provides most of the counseling. Srinivansan, who lived and worked with the Vietnamese refugees in their own country and in Cambodia, provides insight and understanding of the Vietnamese culture. Together they provide counseling and referrals in such areas as job training, job counseling, housing and medical assistance. They also serve as advocates on behalf of the clients with existing agencies, employers and other community groups so that the refugees' adjustment to life in the United States can be made easier. All Indo-Chinese refugees are eligible for assistance and are asked to call Mrs. Speck at 665-1120 for service. Ms. Speck

POLITICS DOES NOT HAVE TO BE "DIRTY"
in a runoff election between two people, it has been customary to attack the opponent on his voting record and his philosophy. That I could do. But that's the "old politics". Hugo Black III I would rather take the "high road" and instead tell you how I would vote in your behalf. ON INSURANCE Hugo Black would vote for lower insurance rates; to make it more difficult for companies to raise insurance rates or to cancel in-surance. ON ELECTRIC RATES Hugo Black would vote for "taking the politics" out of electrical rate grants by increasing the membership of the Public Service Commission. ON GOVERNMENT COSTS Hugo Black would vote for reducing the size of the legislature to save your tax dollars. ON FINANCIAL DISCLOSURE Hugo Black would be for the strongest financial disclosure possible. THAT'S WHY THESE PEOPLE ARE AMONG THOSE SUPPORTING HUGO BLACK FOR THE LEGISLATURE.
