doctors, working on diabetes research, are on the verge of a cure as dramatic as the success against polio. Diabetes now has become the nation's third ranking killer after heart disease and cancer. The prevalance of the disease is increasing rapidly. The economic toll of the disease is estimated at $5.3 billion a year with federal spending for research amounting to a small fraction of federal research monies. The killer of Jackie Robinson is still at large. But Americans have the power to stop this killer. Those businessmen who support this public service message have helped to make the public aware. We have faith that the public will demand an end to this disease.
