Metro Commission to decide museum management

From Page 1 with the library. So far, plans call for a South Florida Historical Association museum and a visual arts museum. "The Arts and Sciences Council will call in experts in visual arts for advice on what kind of program to implement," said Ms. Borgschulte. "They will possibly call in the Metropolitan Museum. The Metropolitan Museum may very well be the operating agency. I really don't know." Because five members of the Arts and Sciences Council are also either on the MMAC board of trustees or its board of governors, the question of conflict of interest has also been raised by the media. Borgschulte does not believe a conflict exists. "People who are interested in arts are often on the various boards of trustees of private organizations," she said. "The Commssision could have chosen only people who were not on any board, but they did not. They chose some people already involved in the arts community. I think it's worked okay."

Gables resident honored

A South Dade resident and a Coral Gables paramedic are two of six Good Samaritans who will be officially cited by the Legion of Honor for risking their lives to save someone else's. Luciano Castro, 12031 SW 29th Terr., spotted a man leaping into Biscayne Bay off MacArthur Causeway, Sept. 7, in an apparent suicide attempt. Castro jumped in, pulled the man out and flagged down a passing Florida Highway patrolman. The trooper applied cardiopulmonary resuscitation. "The man's life was saved thanks to the heroism of Luciano Castro," said the Highway Patrol office. Richard Chicvara, a paramedic with the Coral Gables Fire Department, saved the life of a Florida Highway patrolman. Patrolmen J.E. Benton and J.E. Anderson were fleeing to the safety of their patrol car during a heavy electrical storm while investigating an accident May 28 on the Palmetto Expressway at U.S. 441. Trooper Benton was flipped some 25 feet when a lightning bolt struck nearby. Chicvara, off duty and passing the scene, twice revived the officer with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Simulation To last 60 days
