Coral Gables Mrs. R. May Scott's house at 1565 San Rafael, was broken into sometime during the morning hours on Tuesday, Nov. 9. Police say clothing a stereo, jewelry and checks were among items stolen. Cameras and lenses were taken from a classroom at Ponce Junior High School, 5801 Augusto between 1 p.m. and 7:25 a.m. over the week-end on Nov. 5-8. Keith B. Feldman, 18, was arrested at 40 S. Prospect at 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 3 for vandalism, shooting birds, disturbing the peace, assaulting and obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest. Annette De Maria's house at 1430 Consoltata was broken into between 2 and 6:54 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4. The thief, who gained entry by cutting the patio screen and forcing security screen from the rear window, took a TV and radios police say. An office building at 1450 Madruga was broken into sometime during the night on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 4-5 and $200 in postage stamps were taken. Police say the thief gained entry by prying the front door open. South Dade Frances Linn, 49, was working behind the counter of the Tom Thumb Food Store at 8049 SW 67th Ave., on Nov. 17 at 10 p.m., when a man carrying a sawed-off shot gun entered the store and approached the counter. About the same time Florence Blaine, 52, an unsuspecting customer walked in the store. The suspect demanded the money from the cash register and from the store customer, and fled on foot. Wiona Buttigieg, 31, was walking along South Dixie Highway and 216th Street on Nov. 17 at 8 p.m., when she was approached by three men in a automobile. One of the men grabbed her purse and attempted to flee. The victim, however, grabbed her purse from the suspect and the men fled without anything. On Nov. 16 at 6:30 p.m., Charles Stewart, 19, and several other young males were participating in a gambling game at Perrine Park, 104th Avenue and SW 170th Street, when they were approached by a male who demanded all their money. The victim handed over the money and the subject fled on foot.

'Women in Society' starts library series

The film series "Women in Society" will be shown at the Coral Gables Branch of the Miami-Dade Public Library Sys tem on Dec. 1 and 8 at 2 and 7 p.m. "Women's Rights in the United States: An Informal Story" will be shown on Dec. 1. The film is an amusing though serious documentary on the role of women in American history and their attempts to achieve greater rights and opportunities. Also on Dec. 1, "Antonia: A Portrait of the Woman" will be shown. "Women on the March" a film on the history of women's suffrage and rights in England, Canada and the United States will be shown on Dec. 8, followed by "Susan B. Anthony," the story of how she worked for women suffrage in the organization of the women's temperance movement. The series is free and the public is invited to attend.

The Coral Gables Chapter of the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities, together with the Dade County Public Schools will sponsor a parent conference on learning disabilities on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at the University of Miami Student Union Building. The all-day conference will be held at the Flamingo Ballroom and begins with a morning session at 9:30 a.m. to noon. The afternoon session will be from 1 to 3 p.m. The program is free and open to the public.
