From Home to Houseboat Is Way Coral Gables Family Solves House Shortage
Something new, in the way of living, has been added to the Roy L. Harshbarger family, formerly of Coral Gables, now of the Yacht "Moskee," Okeechobee Road. Evicted from their Columbus Boulevard home during the war by the shortage of houses, OPA and what have you, the Harshbargers and their three young daughters, unable to find suitable quarters bought the yacht "Moskee" and now live a normal everyday life with the river as their front yard in place of grass and flowers. The "Moskee", a seaworthy craft, 45 feet long and boasting all utilities, is tied to its own dock on land acquired by the Harshbargers. Automatic electric hot heater, refrigerator, and a bottled gas cooking range are installed in the galley. There is a large bedroom 'down stairs' and on the top deck are bunks. There is a living room and awni n ged deck for loafing and fishing, and everyone in the Harshbarger family fishes. Each morning Mrs. Harshbarger loads the three girls in the family car for Coral Gables. Sylvia and Marcia, 11 and 9, respectively, are dropped at the Elementary school. Pat is taken to Ponce de Leon High school. Mr. Harshbarger is with the Civil Aeronautics Commission. Speaking of Pat brings us to the reason for the story. Pat is a junior and chief majorette of the Calvalettes at Ponce. She is having her teeth straightened and has lost a little pink plastic dental appliance necessary to the job. The piece of plastic, about two inches long, was in a little brown box when lost and of use to no one but Pat. If found Pat is hoping it will be returned to Dr. Bovard's office.
TONIGHT AT EIGHT O'CLOCK the members of the Ponce senior class play, "Pride and Prejudice" will present their dramatic talents before friends and family at the Coral Gables Elementary School auditorium. The cast above includes Tom Obernaur, Bette Bollinger, Joan Brown, Dna O'Brien, Cathy Einflidt, Katherine Hardeman, Joy Cobb, Rhea Grafton, Frank Wilcox, Joe Sullivan, Delores Wright, Douglas Phillips, Barbara Brown, Nancy Jackson, Sue Adams, Jack Murphy and Cella Watson.
