NOTHING STRANGE

A Broadway actor awoke one morning to find a red tulip growing out of the crown of his head. He was worried, so he consulted his doctor. "It's all a mystery to me," said the medic. "Why don't you see 'Believe It or Not Ripley'?" The actor thought it was a good idea and hurried to the Ripley headquarters. He walked over to the blonde receptionist and nervously removed his hat. "I would like to see Mr. Ripley," he said. The receptionist looked him over, yawned and asked, "What is it about?"

THAT'S WHAT IT WAS

"On the day my wedding occurred . . ." "Pardon the correction, but weddings, receptions, dinners and such affairs 'take place.' It's only calamities that 'occur.' Do you see the distinction?" "Yes, I see. Well, as I was saying, on the day my wedding occurred . . ."

READY STUFFED

A newly-married man returning home from work found that his wife had just cooked a chicken for dinner. Eyeing the fowl over with a suspicious sniff, he said: "It looks lovely, dear, but it smells mighty queer. What have you stuffed it with?" "I haven't stuffed it with anything," answered his wife, wide-eyed. "The chicken wasn't hollow."

IMAGINARY MENU

The young wife greeted her husband affectionately when he returned from the office. "Poor darling!" she said. "You must be tired and hungry. Would you like some nice soup, followed by nice tender chops with golden-brown potatoes and green peas, and then mushrooms on toast?" "No, darling," her husband answered firmly, "let's save the money and eat at home."

THE REAL LOSS

Quite a crowd was sitting in the doctor's office. It was long past his scheduled time of arrival. "Dear me," said the nurse, "I do hope he hasn't had an accident! The storm is so bad and the roads are so icy!" "I sure hope not, too," yawned one of the patients. "It would mean wasted carfare for me, not to mention the time I've lost sitting here!"
