Dog Stars Now Racing At Biscayne
Off to a record-breaking Spring meeting attendance and mutuels play since the opening of its Spring 46-night greyhound meeting on April 5, the Biscayne Kennel club is now in full stride with a major array of stakes and "name" races. Boasting the greatest registry of star greyhounds in the history of the area's oldest consecutive greyhound racing center Biscayne's director of racing, Tom Hogan, and racing secretary, James Hodeck, are being forced to make each weekday night card a double feature to keep all of the stellar dogs in regulation racing routine. Korn Kick, the Spring Inaugural champion, holds a slight edge for the early meeting although he has such top challengers in succeeding stakes as Gase Roller, Golden Gallant, Flying Gold, Ophelia and others which boast major stakes triumphs from Florida to Massachusetts. With notable Spring weather ruling, the natural air conditioned spacious Biscayne plant is really the rendezvous for thousands on these warm evenings. The only sports spot here here with pari-mutuels wagering, it appears assured it will erase all attendance and mutuels records for this time of year and easily can become the state's No. 1 dog racing center in attendance and mutuels for this season. One of the first of the special race night programs is scheduled for the Biscayne course when more than 100 guests from throughout the nation will be guests of the track at a program of six races, representing the Shenandoah Life Insurance Co. of Roanoke, Va. Joseph B. Adams, managing director of Biscayne, has posted a special gold trophy while Paul C. Buford, president of the organization will give the winner a specially designed flower victory blanket.
Three Cars Damaged In Collision Here
Three cars were damaged at 8:30 last night in a collision that occurred at the intersection of Salzedo Street and Aragon Avenue, just adjacent to the police station. The accident occured when William Harry Knight, 9030 SW 23rd Street, failed to heed the stop sign when driving east on Aragon and crashed into a car driven by John P. Cown, 2431 NW 15th Street. After striking the car, Knight's vehicle caromed into a parked auto belonging to Police Officer A. E. Tipton. Knight was arrested for failing to stop at the intersection and causing an accident.
WHAT A PLAY!
