God's Power For Man's Problems
By REV. NEIL WYRICK Palmetto Presbyterian Church The next time your nerves land on end and do an irritating dance on the serenity of your soul; the next time you feel like blowing your top or shouting at the top of your lungs, try one of the following cures. They are as old as time and as new as your need. Begin to repeat to yourself "The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want, He maketh me to lie down in green pastures . . ." and as you repeat this well loved psalm, picture what you are saying. Play some beautiful music or hum a happy tune even if it comes from an irritated heart... Walk outside a moment and look at the sky. It can overwhelm you with its reach. Look at a blade of grass, it can touch you with its singular beauty. Make yourself smile . . . if you make your muscles in your face smile, your inner feelings cannot be far behind. Then just say to that Shepherd who is your Shepherd and mine, "My good and faithful Lord, any fool can crawl in bed and mope, let me rather do something better and more positive than running away."
