Ronnie and Donnie Thagard, twin sons of Mr. and Mrs. Wendell R. Thagard, 710 Madeira Ave., are serving aboard the USS Essex. The Essex, an anti-submarine warfare support aircraft carrier is operating out of Quonset Point, R.I. Donnie is a machinist mate third class and Ronnie is a fireman. Looks like Coral Gables and South Miami are furnishing the mostest Harvard - Yale - Princeton graduates for their annual Ivy League outing to be held Saturday at the Ransom School, on the bay in Coconut Grove. Martin "Tiger" Rittenhouse Jr., 4515 San Amaro, is chairman of arrangements. He will be assisted by fellow Princetonians, Frank L. Keyes, 3585 Palmarito Ave., Dr. Edward Talmadge, 6455 SW 113th St. Also "Yalies" Lewis C. Jamieson, 3930 Irvington Ave., James Armstrong, 520 Zamora Ave., and D. P. G. Cameron, 3575 Main Highway, headmaster at Ransom.
Miss Matlock, Mr. Barton Are Engaged
Dr. and Mrs. John C. Matlock, of 610 Blue Rd., announce the engagement of their daughter, Hope Marie, to Edward Lee Barton Jr. of Williston, Fla. An August 5 wedding is planned by the couple. The bride-elect is a graduate of Coral Gables High School and is a student at Florida Southern College, where she is a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She is attending the summer session at Florida Southern. Her fiance is a senior student at Florida Southern, a physical education major where he is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Mrs. Leonardy To Teach Course
Mrs. Herberta Leonardy, president of the National Association of Parliamentarians, will conduct a 10-hour certified course in elementary parliamentary law at the Coco Plum Woman's Club. The four-day course, open to the public, begins July 10 at 9:30 a.m. and runs until noon at the club. For further information call Mrs. James R. Davant, club president, HI 6-6111.
