Exam Time For Group In City

It's exam time again for a group of city firemen and police. On July 18 the 18 firemen hired on probationary status to help boost the ranks of the Fire Department after the new station was completed will be given a written test to determine to become permanent fire eaters. The following day the Personnel Department will examine police officers for the combination post of detective and juvenile officer. Two juvenile officers are provided for in the new proposed budget—an increase of one. Five new police officers will be hired and probably start police at one of the local police academies early in September, Personnel Director Robert Harrison said. On July 21, Detectives G. B. Timanus, Don Clermont and Lavelle Edwards will take the exam for detective sergeant. Sgt. E. H. McGough will be the only detective eligible to take the lieutenancy exam on July 23.
