She was present for the 10th anniversary of her Coral Gables High School class of 1951 and she had a reunion and visit with her mother, Mrs. C. W. Her class reunion party was held at Key Biscayne. They shot arrows into the sky, not at Indians but at juicy watermelons on the fourth of July celebration at the Coral Gables Youth Center. An all day affair, parents, and children played soft ball, with parents ahead. At mid-day, everyone cooled off in the Gym, with volleyball and a basketball tournament. As for the watermelon contest, after several hours of shooting every melon was punctured, and taken home by some lucky marksman. Mrs. Greene Is President Of Rose Society
A new chapter of the American Rose Society has been formed in Coral Gables, with a veteran rose grower, Mrs. S. M. Greene, 1036 S. Greenway Dr., its first president. The new group includes men as well as women members, and it was formed for the Gables people principally to grow better roses. Last February, the Coral Gables Garden Club, with the cooperation of the city, presented its first annual flower show at the Coral Gables Masonic Lodge. A two-day affair, it was packed both days. The new Coral Gables Chapter of the American Rose Society will meet monthly. Since men take to rose growing more than any other of the unfolding flowers, several are among the 30 members. Serving with Mrs. Greene, a past president of the Gables Garden Club, will be Mrs. Charles Broward, secretary, and Col. Harold Lewis, treasurer. Mrs. Malcolm Wiseheart is chairman of program.
