Mrs. Hedden, a Customer Herself, Wins in Contest

A woman who knows what it's like to be a customer was cited for being a courteous salesperson this week. Mrs. Ethel Hedden, who's worked for 13 years at Daniels' Department Store, was the last of three Gables salespeople cited for their courtesy in connection with the Coral Gables Sales Clinic, a program just concluded. "The first thing you do," Mrs. Hedden said, talking about the qualities of a courteous salesperson which have won her a $50 savings bond "is to greet them graciously and to make them feel at home. "Then, know your merchandise. And knowing the customer's problem, if they have one, you can find them something. That makes them very grateful. "We all know that, being customers ourselves." The letter citing Mrs. Hedden, who lives at 1640 SW 17th St., was written by a woman who lives in the NW area, Mrs. Mary S. Vick. She gets a $25 savings bond. The week before, another Northwest area woman, Mrs. Jaqueline Maroon, wrote the letter recommending Edward Freed, manager of Engel's Men's Shop. MRS. HEDDEN

Davidson's President of CG Realtors

Robert A. Davidson will be installed president of the Coral Gables Board of Realtors for 1961-62 Saturday at the Key Biscayne Hotel. Elected vice president was Peter B. Clark. James M. Hess, a former City commissioner, is the secretary-treasurer. Directors are Frederick A. Kent, Robert H. McTague, Douglas E. Staples, I. Tommy Thomas, C. Dana Woodman and Taylor. Charles Burns was also elected chairman of the associate division; Janet Rinoud, vice chairman; and Don Saunders, secretary-treasurer. Associated directors are A. W. Crutchfield, Jack Higgins, Polly Hill, Andrew Jackson, James McTague and Jerree Willing. The 30-year-old Davidson brings a diversified background to the job. The native Miamian is a graduate of Gesu High School and received both a bachelor of arts and law degree from the University of Miami, the latter in 1959. The Davidsons have four children and live at 733 Madeira Ave. ROBERT DAVIDSON
