Robert Armstrong Race, Carmela Detrio Are Wed
On a honeymoon trip to North Carolina are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong Race. They were married Saturday at the First Methodist Church of Coral Gables. The bride, the former Miss Carmela Detrio, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Detrio, of 4200 Riviera Dr. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blackman Race of 4321 Santa Maria Ave. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor-length bridal gown of silk peau de soie. The bodice, designed with round neck, long point-at-hand sleeves was embroidered in small crystal and seed pearls. The tiered skirt, trimmed in Alencon lace, swept into a train. Her veil of illusion fell from a queen's crown and she carried a bouquet of white ostrich plumes and white orchids. Miss Lily Detrio, sister of the bride, was honor maid. Bridesmaids were Miss Kathy Detrio, cousin of the bride, Miss Romayne Dupras, and Miss Karen Greene. Miss Sylvia Ann Detrio, sister of the bride, and Miss Susan Pamela Rogers were junior bridesmaids. The bridesmaids also wore floor-length gowns of cobalt blue glolite satin with matching Dior bow hats and carried Fuji mums bouquets. The junior maids wore floor length gowns of blue satin, with matching Dior bows, and bouquets like the bridesmaids. Howard Woodrow was best man. Ushers were Fred Bonebroke, Don Taylor and Jerry Stejical of Lincoln, Neb. The Rev. Dr. John Hanger, pastor, officiated at the 3:30 p.m. ceremony and the reception followed in the church garden. Mother of the bride chose a waltz-length, sheath-style dress of pure silk in champagne color. Her accessories matched. Mother of the groom wore a moss green, de-lustered satin gown with matching accessories. Both matrons wore bronze orchids. The bride was graduated from Coral Gables High School and attended the University of Miami where she was a staff member of Tempo the college magazine and she was a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, freshman honorary. The groom is a graduate of the University of Miami where he was secretary of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, social fraternity and a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, business fraternity. He is a member of the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club, an associate member of the Bachelor's and a 1st Lt. in the active reserves. Mr. Race is also a grandson of a pioneer Florida family, the Samuel G.
