UM's 100-Voices to Sing 'Messiah' Sunday
George F. Handel's "Messiah," under the direction of Glenn Draper, will be presented for the second year at the Gables' First Methodist Church this Sunday at 4 p.m. Draper is the director of the 100-voice University of Miami chorus. Twenty-five members of the University Symphony Orchestra will accompany the production. Soloists will be Virginia Englebright, soprano; Salwa Mer-rige, contralto; Ben Laney, tenor; and Paul Marino, baritone. Dale Willoughby is guest organist. Last year there was a turn-away audience for the presentation of the oratorio.
Baptists Plan Special Music
The University Baptist Church Oratorio Choir of 52 voices will present the prophecy and its fulfillment of the sections of Handel's "Messiah" Sunday, Dec. 17 at the 7:45 p.m. service. Director Cecil Harper will be assisted by Ben Laney, tenor; Mary Baiar, contralto; and Martha Hayes, soprano. The seasonal service will be accompanied by the string quartet from the University.

St. Mark's Pageant Sunday Night
This Sunday at 7 p.m. a pageant, "The Adoration of the Kings and Shepherds," will be presented at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Bird and LeJeune Roads. It will show one night only. Five years ago this pageant was first presented with simple costumes and music. Each year something new was added until it has outgrown the capacity of inside of the church. This year for the first time it will be held outdoors, with fancy costumes, newly created scenery and special musical effects. The cast of characters are Mary, Georgia Gutten; Joseph, Mike Sullivan; Kings, Richard Danker, John Shaw and Jim Edie; Pages, John Middlebrook, Jeff Gross and Robbie Litwal. Shepherds, Bob Ammarell, Eddie Danker and Jack Edie; Shepherd boy, Steve Schafer; Little angels, Nancy Wettig and Cheryl Summers. Angels, Paula Jean Dickey, Emily Wilson, Sharon Page, Margaret Czenec, Cindy Van de Mark, Ginny Grimstad, Shirley Denton, Dottie Schneider, Kristine Anderson, Gail Gutten, Gail Swasey, Marsha Swan, Jean Retzke and Jan Retzke. Mrs. Jason Koesy, church organist and choir director will be in charge of the musical background with the following choirs taking part: Cherub Choir: Linda Mikesell, Cindy Schafer, Barbara Abbey, Jean Clark, Mark Middlebrook, Roger Mosure, Laurene Stein, Denise Summers, Eric Beddow, Sally Buchanan, Scott Stein and Kevin Koch. The matins choir includes Artie Dickey, Larry Mikesell, Andrea Summers, Pamela Abbey, Emily Bergstresser, Barbara Evans, Helen Shaw, Janet Kosey, Kathy Juilfs. Wanda Gross, Barbara Mikesell, Kathy Koesy, Pamela Jahnig, David Jahnig, Tommie Grimstad, John Kimbrough, Jane Stegenga. Christine Mashburn, Jeff Evans, Karen Schneider, Judy Marson and Doris Ciesielski. Senior choir members are Dottie Bobbitt, Grace Braithwaite, Barbara Dickert, Gray Dickert Jr., Charlotte Dickey, Jeanette Erickson, Alvin Gratzel, Joan Mikesell, Shirley Reed. Blair Schafer, Joanne Schafer, Marjorie Schafer, Thelma Bergstresser, Lynda Clark, John J. Clark II, Betty Anderson, Kenneth Klow, Agnes Middlebrook and Conley Addington Jr. Miss Gladys Goodwin is the director with Mrs. E. K. Rife as her assistant. The Rev. John H. Clark II, vicar of the church, will be narrator. In case of rain, the pageant will be presented on the next fair night.
